The 20% TCA peel is a deeper peel. We would consider this safe for an advanced peeler (having previously applied 5 layers of a 12.5% TCA or Glycolic 60% + for an extended period of time). It is extremely unlikely that you will be applying more than 2-3 layers of this peel in a home setting. This particular percentage is quite beneficial for Cystic acne and acne scarring. TCA will improve color, freshness, texture, skin tone, and fine wrinkles. It will also improve superficial discoloration, such as age spots. It may improve blotches and can sometimes improve dark circles under your eyes. TCA is a natural 2nd step when other acids stop producing benefits. Use with extreme caution. It is NOT a race to apply a higher percentage, or multiple layers, so peel safely and responsibly.
TCA is generally considered safe for darker skinned individuals. *In the case of a higher percentage - such as this 20% - we recommend only 1 layer (any more may be applied with caution and testing for hyper or hypo pigmentation.
*You must prepare your skin for any acid peel (especially a medium depth acid such as TCA). If you are prone to fever blisters, the acid can cause a breakout. Prescription medications must be used before a TCA peel is applied or the breakouts could cause scarring. TCA may produce some unintended color changes in the skin (this is due to inflammation of the skin from the acid). This may be prevented by using a bleaching cream 2-3 weeks prior to treatment and usually occurs with darker skin. We highly recommend the Fading Gel for this purpose.
TCA gets its strength from being applied in multiple layers. A layer is a single application of the acid during a peel treatment. Multiple layers will be applied to progress the peel deeper into the skin – without washing off any previous layers. The first layer is applied (approximately a 3-5 minute time frame) - the proteins in the skin coagulate, then the peel self-neutralizes. Then the second layer is applied directly on top of the first. It will go through the first layer and coagulate the layer below (another 3-5 minutes) then self-neutralize. This process generally goes 2-5 layers.
** If you have never had a TCA Peel before, we suggest applying only 1 layer the first time you perform the peel. You can then strengthen the peel with additional layers as you move forward in the process. We suggest the 12.5% for beginners and those with sensitive skin. **For reference - the Obaji Blue Peel is either a 15% or 20% (doctor's preference/patient's skin) TCA

BEST SKIN REFRESHER I KNOW OF!
I have been a TCA user for 10 years. I HAD thick, oily, sun-scarred skin. After my first peel, my skin was luminous, less oily, and the scarring had virtually disappeared. In my opinion, TCA should only be used by someone who has experienced the process professionally so they know what to expect. I have been doing my own peels for the past 5 years on both my face and the back of my hands and there is nothing that makes my skin look fresher or more youthful. I highly recommend it.

Is this peel good for first time user with sensitive skin?Appreciate any response thanks. ------ Hello there. This is not the area for questions. Please email us at email@example.com *****Technically though - NO, this is not a good peel for any beginner. TCA 20 is for experienced users who have also prepped their skin with Fading Gel/Retinol/RetinA/etc... for at least 2 weeks. Please see our All About Peels page for more information. ;)

Great for a deeper peel. Product is much better at improving melasma and other skin discoloration than 60% glycolic peel. Unbelievable smoothing and lightening results obtained on elbows, knees, feet, old burns and scars. I use TCA in multiple layers and actually top with 60% glycolic in order to accelerate peeling. I am dark-skinned and my skin looks fantastic.

This product is amazing. I've done a 4 layer peel at 20% which is like the Obagi Blue Peel...a bit painful during frosting but back to normal after about 20 min. Tons of peeling and nice tight fresh skin after healing. I used Emu Oil after and the healing went smoothly

I have used this product above my lip and found great results with the fine lines and wrinkles in this area. Has anyone else found this to be true? If so, have you repeated the procedure to lessen the wrinkles even more? ***Platinum response. Yes, we have definitely heard of your positive results with the TCA 20%. I suggest that you go ahead and do another peel possibly 1x every month or two to increase the tightening. I also recommend using the copper/emu combo while you are not doing the peel. ***

After you have prepared your skin for 2 weeks (using Fade Bright if you have pigmented skin or are prone to freckling), we suggest the following application process:
Wash face with acidic cleanser.
Dry and apply 1-2 layers of Peel Prep Solution B. This will aid in numbing the skin slightly for a more comfortable peel.
Apply peel for suggested time frame on direction sheet.
Rinse well with cool - cold water.
Purified Water, SD Alcohol 40, Trichloroacetic Acid, Propylene Glycol, Citric Acid, Lactic Acid, Sodium Lactate, Glycine, Fructose, Urea, Niacinamide, Inositol, Sodium Benzoate, Benzyl Alcohol, Menthol Crystals.. pH 1.2 - 1.4 (1/4oz., 1oz., 2oz. options).
Prep Solution B:
SD Alcohol 90%, Phenol 1%, Water. (2oz.)
