Platinum Skin Care Inc. & Medi Spa
Overview
Platinum
Skin Care was the creation of Jennifer Tilney - Spa owner and cosmeceuticals
manufacturer. Jennifer felt that there were not enough highly active products
available to aid those with problem skin - a personal dilemma of her own. She
teamed up with a pharmaceutical chemist to create her own line of professional
skin care. The entire Platinum Skin Care cosmeceutical line is created
specifically with Jennifer's strict requirements intact, and specializes in
problem skin areas. All of her products are pH and % certified. They contain
proper amounts of highly active ingredients to give your skin the added boost
it needs to be clear, smooth and healthy.
Our
product lines are used in Dr's offices/Spas/Clinics all across the US and
outside the country. We have had a wonderful experience with this avenue, and
have heard so much positive feedback from our professional clients that we are
just astounded! Welcome to the family! We are thrilled to help you.
What makes Platinum Skin Care so
very special to those who have discovered it? It is our diligent attention to
our customer's needs and safety. We have your
best interest at heart when we create our products. We utilize only the purest,
most technologically advanced ingredients, which will not only meet, but hopefully
exceed your personal skin care needs.
Our products are formulated in an
FDA and EPA registered laboratory. This insures not only that your products are
free from contaminates, but that they are created in a location which will not
add to our environmental contamination problems. Everything is regulated and
disposed of properly.
Our products are guaranteed to be
the exact formulations, pH levels and ingredients as specified. Our chemical
peels are formulated using only reagent
acids. These are the highest quality acids available. We utilize Ultrapure acid which has
been refined to be a 99% pure solution. Since the acid is free of contaminates,
it leads to a more comfortable peel for the user.
Our products have the true Free Acid Availability
stated on each label. As unfair and misleading as it seems, this is often not
the case with many product lines (even the larger ones), and can lead to vast
confusion on the true
potency of a product.
This means
that our 30% solution (formulated from a pure 100% glycolic base) is a true 30%
glycolic peel. There is 30% Glycolic acid in our formulation.
Other
companies would state that their products are 30% - when in actuality - they
are only 20%.
*30% of a 70% solution (which is a standard base of glycolic acid)- would only
end up being a 20% peel solution. Big difference! These are sometimes listed as compounds.
Our pH levels are set at a level
which will most benefit your skin. *The lower the pH the more aggressive and
quickly the acid works. A
peel will have a low pH level to aid in penetration and strength.
A leave-on product
will command a higher pH level (usually around 3.8-4.5) as not to irritate the
skin, but to still provide action with the acids.
We give
you published information about the efficacy of the products for you to review,
as well as the most common uses for the ingredients posted. If you are having a
problem deciding, we are in the office (M-F 9:30-5 Est. 1-800-917-3155), or are
available by email to help steer you towards the products we think will work
for you.
Our products are formulated to be
Non-Comedogenic! This means that the ingredients we use will not clog your
pores or cause acne.
We do not utilize minuscule
amounts of active ingredients just to say we have them in our products. We put
in the full, necessary amounts to give you the benefits you are looking for!
You will be hard-pressed to find this in many other "major" brands.

What exactly are AHA's?
|
|
Alpha Hydroxy acids (AHA's) are really a family of acids.
Glycolic is the most widely used because of its small molecular structure,
but Lactic – which is most beneficial for dry/aging skin, and Salicylic –
which is most beneficial for oily/acne prone skin, are very powerful as well,
and should be used accordingly. AHA's are one of the safest methods of skin
renewal. Their effectiveness depends on the type and concentration of the
AHA, its pH (acidity), and other ingredients in the product. Many
AHA-containing cosmetic products have very little skin renewal effects
because the AHA concentrations are too low and the pH is too high. Platinum
Skin Care’s Cosmeceutical products start at the range of 5% for sensitive
skin types and move up to a leave-on product percentage of 30% acid. Our
peels begin at the 15% range and move up to a pure 70% solution.
|
When should I notice an improvement in my client’s skin? How
can this be?
|
|
Skin improvements should be apparent quite quickly. If you are
utilizing the peels on a weekly/bi-weekly basis, a 6-8 peel treatment is
standard and will yield very nice results. If your clients are using daily
products (ie. serums, cleansers, etc...) then they will notice an immediate
smoothness, but for a marked improvement it will take several months.
The average skin care product ingredients
can only treat the outermost layer (squamous) of skin cells, since their
molecular structures are too large to actually penetrate into the
epidermis, let alone the dermis. Since these products can't really dig in
and help the skin's structure, they just sit on top and temporarily improve
the look of your skin by plumping
and smoothing the dead squamous cells.
There are only two skin care substances
which have molecules small enough to penetrate this top layer and do some
real structural good, the most popular, because of its excellent function, are
the Alpha Hydroxy Acids, or deeper peeling acids. Once the acid penetrates
through the layers of skin, it can help to keep the hair follicles cleared
of built up squamous cells, thus reducing the blockages that cause acne in
many individuals. Also, it can trigger the formation of new elastin cells
and collagen. After using acids, the skin will have a much smoother look
and feel from the inside out.
We recommend the Salicylic peels
(15%-25%), Jessners solution, or a TCA 20% peel to address acne in-house.
The client should be using our AB Cleanser daily 2x along with 1-2
treatments.
|
How do Alpha Hydroxy Acids really work?
|
|
AHA'S break the bonds between weakened
skin cells, making it easy to exfoliate them and encourage the production
of new cells. *In a clinical study conducted at Hahnemann University
School of Medicine in Pennsylvania, it was determined that using a
glycolic treatment (containing at least 25% glycolic acid) lead to a 25%
increase in skin thickness, improved quality of elastic fibers and an
increased density of collagen.
|
Should my clients avoid sun exposure while using acid
products?
|
|
Always make it a necessity
for your clients to wear a broad spectrum sunscreen (SPF of at least
30-50) to prevent photo damage during and after any treatments with
exfoliating properties. The FDA also recommends that you wear sunscreen
the entire duration of any glycolic treatment and for 1 week after
completion.
|
|
What should my clients expect within the first few days of
using acid products?
|
|
As the dead cell layer sloughs off, their skin may appear
slightly drier than normal and they will most likely see some mild
flaking. Let them know that this is normal and desired.
