Properties
20%
Options* Prep B Solution and Gauze Pads
The 20% TCA peel is a deeper peel. We would consider this safe for an advanced peeler (applied 5 layers of a 12.5% TCA previously, or 60% + glycolic peels for an extended period of time). When you have reached the point that you can apply the full 5 layers of solution, then you are ready to move up to the next strength. It is NOT a race to apply a higher percentage, so peel safely and responsibly. TCA is generally considered safe for darker skinned individuals. TCA will improve color, freshness, texture, skin tone, and fine wrinkles. It will also improve superficial discoloration, such as age spots. It may improve blotches and can sometimes improve dark circles under your eyes. TCA is a natural 2nd step when other acids stop producing benefits.
*You must prepare your skin for any acid peel (especially a medium depth acid such as TCA). Please follow the picture link below to learn all about peels and peeling. If you are prone to fever blisters, the acid can cause a breakout. Prescription medications must be used before a TCA peel is applied or the breakouts could cause scarring. TCA may produce some unintended color changes in the skin. This may be prevented by using a bleaching cream 2-3 weeks prior to treatment and usually occurs with darker skin. We highly recommend the Fading Gel for this purpose.
After
you have prepared your skin for 2 weeks (using Fading Gel if you have
pigmented skin or are prone to freckling), we suggest the following
application process:
- Wash face with acidic cleanser.
- Dry and apply 1-2 layers of Peel Prep Solution B. This will aid in numbing the skin slightly for a more comfortable peel.
- Air Dry.
- Apply peel for suggested time frame on direction sheet.
- Rinse well with cool - cold water.
Understanding Layers
TCA gets its strength from being applied in multiple layers. A layer is a single application of the acid during a peel treatment. Multiple layers will be applied to progress the peel deeper into the skin – without washing off any previous layers. The first layer is applied (approximately a 3-5 minute time frame) - the proteins in the skin coagulate, then the peel self-neutralizes. Then the second layer is applied directly on top of the first. It will go through the first layer and coagulate the layer below (another 3-5 minutes) then self-neutralize. This process generally goes 2-5 layers.** If you have never had a TCA Peel before, we suggest applying only 1 layer the first time you perform the peel. You can then strengthen the peel with additional layers as you move forward in the process. We suggest the 12.5% for beginners and those with sensitive skin. **For reference - the Obaji Blue Peel is either a 15% or 20% (doctor's preference/patient's skin) TCA

Money well spent

I've been using the TCA peel and the GABA antioxidant for about a month and a half, and I notice a profound difference in my skin. (I've also been getting carded lately, which I hadn't in a few years (I'm 38)!) I find the TCA peel does wonders for acne, acne damage and sun damage. My skin is much clearer and brighter looking using this peel. I would compare the results of a few peels to that of a photofacial. I find that I begin to flake/peel about 7 days after the peel itself, and I have found it helpful to NOT use any exfoliating or drying/acne products during that time as it leaves my skin very dry. I just use a simple cleanser and a light moisturizer and sunscreen...and only use glycolics once I am done peeling. The TCA seems to take care of any acne I might have gotten in the interim. I have moderately oily skin.
One thing...make sure to put the lid on tightly with this product! It will evaporate if you leave it open a little bit.

Like it better than BHA

I've bought multiple peels from this company and so far this is my favorite. I started out at the 12.5% with 1 layer. Peeling was noticable even with one layer, but it was more manageable than the BHA (flaked off easier). I noticed better results on my acne w BHA (acne disappeared within a day) but my skin appears smoother with the TCA. Overall, I love their products and the help desk is super knowledgable and helpful.

I been useing this peel for at least 5 years ... I have many great comments about my skin < age 43> I use to have adult acne. Scars are greatly reduced and I have hardly any wrinkles... I would like to know if anyone uses this peel on stretch marks? [platinum comment] Yes, there are many people who use this for stretch marks. A stretch mark is indeed a scar and can be lessened with a deep peel. In order to promote more collagen growth we suggest a remodeling cream such as the copper from Dr. Pickart.

Best Skin Refresher I know of

I have been a TCA user for 10 years. I HAD thick, oily, sun-scarred skin. After my first peel, my skin was luminous, less oily, and the scarring had virtually disappeared. In my opinion, TCA should only be used by someone who has experienced the process professionally so they know what to expect. I have been doing my own peels for the past 5 years on both my face and the back of my hands and there is nothing that makes my skin look fresher or more youthful. I highly recommend it.

Is this peel good for first time user with sensitive skin?Appreciate any response thanks. ------ Hello there. This is not the area for questions. Please email us at platinumskincare@sbcglobal.net
*****Technically though - NO, this is not a good peel for any beginner. TCA 20 is for experienced users who have also prepped their skin with Fading Gel/Retinol/RetinA/etc... for at least 2 weeks. Please see our All About Peels page for more information. ;)
