1. Will your peels cause my skin to flake off? I have had this procedure at a physicians office before and i had a lot of peeling. is it the same? |
Our peel solutiond are indeed the same as a doctor's office. The only difference between the two is the pH level of the peel. Ours is slightly higher to give you more time After a peel application it usually takes about 2 or 3 days for the skin to be sufficiently loosened. At this point many people can experience flaking skin (usually on the chin area and forehead). **BUT, it does not have to visibly peel in order for the dead skin to be coming off!
Generally speaking Glycolics will only give minimal flaking since they are superficial (30-60%). A 70% Glycolic will have more flaking, but still small light flakes. Salicylic will produce larger flakes since it is a stronger peel. TCA and Jessners will give the most flaking, showing large visible pieces, darkened skin and a pink undertone.
|
|
2. What exactly are AHA's and glycolic acid? |
Alpha hydroxy acids (AHA's) are really a family of acids. Glycolic is the most widely used because of its small molecular structure, but Lactic – which is most beneficial for dry/aging skin, and Salicylic – which is most beneficial for oily/acne prone skin, are very powerful as well, and should be used accordingly. AHA's are one of the safest methods of skin renewal. Their effectiveness depends on the type and concentration of the AHA, its pH (acidity), and other ingredients in the product. Many AHA-containing cosmetic products have very little skin renewal effects because the AHA concentrations are too low and the pH is too high. Platinum Skin Care’s Cosmeceutical products start at the range of 5% for sensitive skin types and move up to a leave-on product percentage of 30% acid. Our peels begin at the 15% range and move up to a pure 70% solution.
|
|
3. When should I notice an improvement in my skin? |
Skin improvements should be apparent quite quickly. If you are utilizing the peels, a 6-8 week treatment is standard and will yield very nice results. If you are using daily products (ie. serums, cleansers, etc...) then you will notice an immediate smoothness, but for a marked improvement it will take several months.
|
|
4. Is glycolic acid safe? |
Yes. It is a 100% non-toxic substance which does not enter the blood stream when applied to your skin. It has FDA. approval in smaller concentrations for the general public. It is not considered a drug and there are no bad side-effects when used according to the directions. It does have sun precautions that should be followed closely, however.
TCA, Jessners and Salicylic acids are also safe. However they should not be applied during pregnancy. Salicylic due to its aspirin content, Jessners due to its aspirin and resorcinol content, and TCA because it is generally too strong.
|
|
5a. What about buffering/neutralization? So many people say different things? |
|
Several of our peels (glycolic pH levels: 30%-2.1, 40%-2.1, 50%-2.1, 60%-2.1, Salicylic 3%-2.1, 15%-2.1, 25%-2.1) are partially neutralized for your safety. Through the process of neutralizing, an effective and safe pH level is attained while maintaining the acid as the active. Plainly stated the lower the pH level the quicker and more aggressive the peel will be. If you are applying a peel in your home it needs to be at a safe, yet still effective level.
*We DO carry stronger, non-buffered peels (glycolic 70%-0.6, TCA 12.5%-1.3, 20%-1.3, 30%-1.3, Jessners 14/14/14% pH 2.0) which are much stronger. We suggest extreme caution when applying these peels outside of a professional setting.
|
|
5b. I understand the Ph of your acid peel is 2.1. I thought I read somewhere that a Ph of between 2.4 to 3 was best for tolerating the acid. |
As for the pH levels. There are a few sites that state that you should stay around the 3.0 pH level (THEIR specific levels) because of tolerance. That really is fine, but it is NOT entirely the truth. Most doctors/spas/aestheticians use peels with a lower pH level (approx 0.6-1.3) so they can obtain a more satisfying peel. We have set our peels (Glycolic 30%-60% and Salicylic 3%-15%) pH levels at 1 point above the unbuffered versions. This gives you safety, yet a more cosmetically satisfying result than the higher pH levels out there. *We do also carry the unbuffered version 70% (and unbuffered TCA). Each pH Point (ex 3.0, 2.0. 1.0) is actually 10x stronger/weaker than the previous pH level!!! So there are huge differences between our standard pH levels and those a doctor would use. Most other sites (3.0pH and up) carry a peel that is actually 10x weaker than ours. **Still have questions? Please call us for personal service.

5c. I have had professional peels for over four years. I like the dewiness and consistency it brings. I just love the glow of healthy fresh skin and when I don't do the peels, it gets a little dull and dry. I am looking to make my skin look fab. I think I can handle the higher percentage glycolic since I have been getting the peels on and off for four years. What should I buy? |
|
You have 1 of 2 choices here! You can either get the 60% 2.1pH that we carry, OR you can get the 70% unbuffered (very strong) and mix it to whichever % you would like (full instructions included).
Note:Buffering is really where to strength of the acid increases! An unbuffered peel is a doctor's strength. It reacts with your skin very quickly and will only stay on your skin for a couple of minutes. *Extremely strong!
A buffered peel helps to slow down the reaction of the acid, and you will leave the peel on for a longer time period. This is what our 60% is. This is still very strong, but safer.
The way to decide is to find what you are the most comfortable with. Are you more comfortable with a doctor's strength, or would you rather have the safety of a buffered? **Either way, opt for the sample size so you can decide without investing too much. ;)
- PS, for that dewy feeling, try the Copper Serum and Emu oil combo!

|
6. How can glycolic and salicylic acids help my skin problems, when so many other products have failed? |
-
Your other products don't help you because they simply can not penetrate into your skin. You first have to understand some basic knowledge regarding your skin's structure to really understand why the other products haven't been working.
-
The picture to the right shows a cross section of your skin. It is made up of three layers, the epidermis, the dermis and the subcutaneous tissue.
-
The epidermis is the tough, outside layer of skin made up of layers of individual dead cells called squamous. These cells are continuously shed as the new cells work their way up from below. The outermost layer of these squamous cells becomes its own layer: the stratum corneum. Glycolic acid's main function is to exfoliate this dead layer of squamous cells.
-
The dermis is the second layer in. It is responsible for the skin's elasticity (elastin) and strength (collagen).
-
The sebaceous is the fatty layer which also contains most of your hair follicles.
The average skin care product ingredients can only treat the outermost layer (squamous) of skin cells, since their molecular structures are too large to actually penetrate into the epidermis, let alone the dermis. Since these products can't really dig in and help your skin's structure, they just sit on top and temporarily improve the skins look by plumping and smoothing the dead squamous cells.
There are only two skin care substances which have molecules small enough to penetrate this top layer and do some real structural good, the most popular, because of its excellent function, is Alpha Hydroxy Acid, or glycolic acid. Once the acid penetrates through the layers of skin, it can help to keep the hair follicles cleared of built up squamous cells, thus reducing the blockages that cause acne in many individuals. Also, it can trigger the formation of new elastin cells and collagen. After using acids, the skin will have a much smoother look and feel from the inside out.
|
|
7. How do Alpha Hydroxy Acids really work? |
AHA'S break the bonds between weakened skin cells, making it easy to exfoliate them and encourage the production of new cells. *In a clinical study conducted at Hahnemann University School of Medicine in Pennsylvania, it was determined that using a glycolic treatment (containing at least 25% glycolic acid) lead to a 25% increase in skin thickness, improved quality of elastic fibers and an increased density of collagen.
|
|
8. Will my pores actually shrink? |
Dirt, dead cells, makeup, and other substances can form a plug in the pore. This plug (commonly called a blackhead) stretches the opening of the follicle. When the plug is removed, the follicle becomes smaller. During a series of deep pore cleansing facial treatments, hundreds of enlarged follicles are cleansed, and as a result, the pores close, giving the complexion a more refined appearance.
|
|
9. Should I avoid sun exposure while using glycolic acid products? |
|
You should always wear a broad spectrum sunscreen (SPF of at least 30) to prevent photo damage. The FDA also recommends that you wear sunscreen the entire duration of any glycolic treatment and for 1 week after completion. Your new baby fresh skin needs to be protected.
|
|
10. What should I expect within the first few days of using glycolic acid products? |
As the dead cell layer sloughs off, your skin may appear slightly drier than normal and you will most likely see some mild flaking. Once the transition is made, your complexion will appear more youthful and vibrant.
|
|
11. When can I expect my acne to improve? |
|
As salicylic acid clears and cleanses pores, acne may initially appear to be slightly more active. Remember, the acids job is to cleanse the pores of excess dead skin and sebum. You already have acne forming under your skin that you aren't even aware of yet. It generally takes 3 weeks for a clogged pore to come to the surface and be seen and felt. Since you are removing the outer layers of skin at a faster pace, the blemishes that were 1,2 and 3 weeks away will come up quicker. You have to give your skin time to work these clogged pores up to the surface. Once these are out, your skin should show marked improvement. (Usually within 3-4 weeks).
|
|
12. What happens if I stop using the acid products? |
The results you achieved from the acid products will not immediately disappear. However if a maintenance program is not implemented, the dead cell layer will once again build up, and the original problem will re-occur.
|
|
13. I have the Photozyme Pro. Peel which I am going to use this week. My question is: How soon after can I use the 40% Glycolic peel? |
|
This really depends on how sensitive your skin is. If you have sensitive skin, I would try waiting 3 or 4 days at least. If you have very "tough" skin, you could do it the next day.... or if you have done peels before and want an extra deep peel you can perform the enzyme and then apply the glycolic acid after you have rinsed.
- This is not for everyone...only the very experienced peel users!!!
|
|
14. You had said many of your clients see improvement in 1-2 weeks using the 8% cream and Copper cream. I read in your website that it may take up to a year to see cosmetic changes. What should I expect? I realize the results may vary per individual but I just want to know what to expect. |
The year is for a major change. Dr. Pickart has had several clients who were going in to get eye work, but then decided to try the copper/acid first. He said that after using the creams, none of them decided to get the surgery! Of course, I also have received many comments from my own clients who have stated that they can already see a change happening within the first few weeks. So what I am telling you is this.... Yes, you will start to see some changes within the first few weeks, but .... if you are starting off at a time where you are contemplating surgery, it may take up to a year to reach that point.
|
|
15. I have never used a peel and am confused as to use Copper peptide or Glycolic peel and the %. I want to see good results but do not want to irritate my skin. I am 43 have fairly good skin ( med. complexion) but want to improve evenness in skin tone, firmness and brightness while eventually diminishing fine lines . What can you suggest??? |
If you have sensitive type skin I would suggest starting off with the retinol .10% or 15% Glycolic serum and then also use the Copper Serumor Vitamin C. The acid will get rid of the layers of dead skin and also help to even out the complexion and lessen visible lines. The Copper serum or Vitamin C with also really improve the color and texture of your skin. It will also make your skin create new collagen and elastin fibers to replace the damaged ones that break down over the years. If you decide that those products are working fine and not causing irritation, feel free to take the next step into a 30% peel. It will increase the benefits you are already receiving! Consider applying the copper serum with our Emu oil.
|
|
16. After you apply toner, does chemical peel go directly over toner with no waiting period in between? |
The toner dries instantly. It is just to make sure your skin is deeply clean before your peel and to make sure your skin's pH level does not adjust the peels pH level. Isopropyl alcohol is perfect to use prior to a peel to "defatt" your skin. You want the skin to be stripped of all moisture.
|
|
17. If applying toner throughout the week in between chemical applications, how often should you apply it? |
|
A toner is meant to be left on. Many people use it daily immediately after cleansing. The only reason a person should use a toner during the week is if they have oily spots, or if they really need to deep clean an area.
Can makeup be applied directly over toner? Absolutely!
|
|
18. I just turned 50 in November and I seem to have a run down tired look all the time from the bags and sags around my eyes. |
The Platinum eyes will really help your eye area tighten up and lessen the dark areas. The 30% peel kit should really bring some life to your face as well! The only other thing I would suggest because of its regenerating qualities is the Copper Serum. The copper will tell your skin to regenerate new collagen and elastin fibers to replace the ones that have been damaged by time and radicals.
|
|
19. I have a scar. Assuming that it is in fact a hypertrophic scar, is it likely that using a hydroxy acid in conjunction with the copper peptide serum would result in a reduction in the scar size over time? |
I have spoken with Dr. Pickart. He says that if it is a keloid scar, it will 1st soften and then shrink in size in roughly 6 mos. If it is not, then you just need to follow the scar treatment program to break down the scar and regenerate new collagen/elastin with the copper. I would recommend that you use the Super Cop 2x and probably the 60% Peel if you do not have sensitive skin.

20. Hi, I purchased the 15% glycolic toner because I have an oily t-zone and frequent breakouts. I'm also using the 15% Glycolic serum. After 2 days of using the products I feel a stinging when applying them and my skin is slightly reddened. Is this normal? |
The key with glycolic products is to be patient and use as little as necessary. They are obviously working, but we really don't want you to be so bothered while you are using them. Wait a day or two for everything to feel normal again and then start off using only one of the items per day. After building up a little tolerance , then try them both on the same day. **Make sure you are also using a moisturizer after you use the toner. I know it sounds crazy, but the Emu oil is a very nice balancer for oily skin. You would only need to apply about 2 or 3 drops after washing/toning to make your skin balanced.

21. Hello. I am interested in stepping up my skin care regime. I am 44 y/o and at this point, considered fairly dry-skinned. I have some sun history but have avoided more exposure the last 10 years or so. I currently use Obagi products with little difference even though I have been using the system for 2 years. I was hoping to duplicate what physician's offices can do for some one like me that needs their lines reduced and skin surface looking overall better. Please can you advise? |
|
Being that you have dry skin I would suggest that you try the 30% Glycolic Peel. It will really take off quite a bit of the dead skin and lessen any lines that you have from your prior sun exposure. I would also suggest that you try out the Copper Serum (not the super) or Vitamin C Serum. It will really help with your dry skin and it will also rebuild new collagen to replace the damaged fibers in your epidermis. It goes like this: the acid breaks down the damaged fibers and then the copper rejuvenates new fibers (amongst many other things). I am also going to recommend that you get a bottle of the Emu oil. You should mix a few drops of the Copper with the Emu on a daily basis. Then 1x per week (or every other week) apply the peel.
This plan will really help to bring out a fresher appearance. **Since your skin is dry already, start using the copper and emu for about a few days before you try out the peel. Then, start very slowly. If you have any dry patches on your face either avoid them completely with the acid or just apply a dab right before you are ready to rinse your solution off.

22. I am a 39 year old male with pretty good skin tone, texture and elasticity but I do have a number of fine lines around my eyes and forehead. What is the best product you have to reduce or remove these fine line? |
I can definitely recommend aproduct that is wonderful for the lines around the eyes - Platinum Eyes. It can be used every day to instantly tighten your eye area and to rejuvenate. Most of the customers I speak with have seen a difference in their eye area within 1-2 weeks. As for the forehead you will want to try the Retinol or Vialox daily to tighten. A TCA peel 1x every month should really aid in tightening up the forehead area as well. GABA or Derma Snap 8L can be used daily to target your problem areas for instant tightening.

|
23. I'm 33 and have battled acne since about 12. I have been using the proactive system for a few years and it has helped keep my acne down but definitely not gone. In fact, I seem to just be having a different kind of acne now that my skin is getting older. I still have a very oily t-zone but my skin feels tight and looks dry. I have large clogged black heads and a lot of small hard white heads that do not come to the surface. I should add that I occasionally use a retin A product at night with minimal success as well. |
|
We are so glad you found us! I have another special customer who had been dealing with acne for his entire teen years through now. He was going to a dermatologist and had tried everything under the sun with not much "real" success. But as he found out, there really is not just one miracle product that can "cure" acne. Actually, nothing can cure it, just control it. I am going to suggest to you the same things that he uses (much to his dermatologists dismay...and of course delight too!! ;) to control his acne!!
I am going to suggest a 15% salicylic peel with our Acne Treatment Kit. We carry one for TEENS and one for ADULTS. The kit contains everything you need to help control the acne.
That's the program! Please be sure to take before and after pictures!!! They are worth $50 in merchandise if we post them on-line.

24. I recently purchased some of your products. I wasn't sure what type of serum was sent along with the order of 60% glycolic solution. It's called 15% Serum. What, precisely, is in this and how is it used? |
|
The 15% Glycolic Serumis most easily used evenings after you wash your face. It will help to KEEP all the dead skin off! It also helps tremendously with fine lines and acne issues. It is in a hyaluronic acid base so it is wonderful for your skin!
Also, I was wondering how much redness, stinging, peeling, and other signs of burning one should experience with a properly done glycolic peel. Thank you. I've enjoyed your products.
As for the stinging. The 60% is a strong peel. I hope you have had higher strengths performed on you prior to using it. Yes, when it goes on it can sting depending on your skin's sensitivity level! You need to leave it on for at least 1 minute to receive benefits from the peel. Do not try to leave it on longer than is necessary. If your skin becomes red or white (frosting - a positive sign that the peel is working), put a dab of water/neutralizer on the frosted area and then you can continue along with the rest of your face! The results of glycolic acid are to be cumulative. Go slowly and after 6-8 weeks you will see a wonderful improvement!
|
|
25. Should I start off with the sample sizes 1st.. and how long would they last? |
|
Absolutely start off with the sample sizes if you are not sure about the product. It is the very best way to try a large variety of products so that you can see which are going to work best for you! *I also highly recommend either emailing or calling our staff for a personal recommendation.
The peel will give you about 3 or 4 peels (3-4 weeks). Actually by that time you should start to notice a change for the better!!! **Remember that all the things under your skin are going to be coming out during the first week or so, so please don't contribute the acid to causing more acne!!!
As for the other samples, the copper/cleanser/etc... will last about a week, but the creams will only last 1-3 days max.
|
|
26. I received all of my sample products today. Great service!!! I ordered the 50% glycolic and the 15% serum, Emu oil, copper serum and copper eye cream, toner and cleaner. Please tell me what I need to use when. Thanks so much for all of your help. |
|
This is a very easy process.
1x per week do a peel. After you rinse the peel, apply the copper and emu oil.
- Morn:
- Wash w/cleanser and Tone if oily
Apply a few drops of Copper serum and Emu oil
- Eve:
- Wash w/cleanser and tone if oily
Apply a few drops of Copper serum and 15% serum

27. I've been using my 40% GLYCOLIC PEEL NOW FOR ALMOST 6 WEEKS on my "age spots". I also use the 15% serum and the copper peptide. The spots are "fading and peeling", but still a faint red color. Should I start using a stronger acid? It took 50 years to get these age spots...I don't expect to have them just disappear in 6 weeks! What should my expectations be at this point? |
You are making real progress! These things do take a bit of time to get rid of, but I think moving up to another %, when this one is obviously working very well, will only cause you irritation. I recommend that you start using the Fading Gel daily to inhibit the production of melanin. *This is highly recommended BEFORE you begin peeling to prepare the skin. You may also start to leave the peel on for a longer time frame, or reapply the acid to keep it active longer during your peel. Make sure to keep up with the Copper peptide 2x daily and if you have any Emu oil add that on with the copper (NEVER the peel) to strengthen it and pull it deeper into your skin.
|
|
28. I just purchased the Acne Treatment Kit. How often do I apply the treatment? daily or weekly? when do I use the maintenance products? what are the maintenance products? and most importantly are the directions for use easy to follow? |
|
Application of the peel solution is 1x per week. *You can do a spot treatment on a pesky pimple to speed it along 1 more time per week (but only using a Q-tip on just the pimple itself). The kit then contains all the products you need for your daily care.
It is very easy and comes with complete instructions!

29. I am a 48 year old professional African American woman. My skin is oily, especially the t-zone area. Because of the acne, I have slight enlarged pores. What product do you recommend I use? Are your products safe for women of color? |
As for the acne and oily areas. I would recommend the Acne Treatment Kit if you are ready to try a little bit stronger treatment and use the peels. As long as you do not have sensitive skin and have used stronger products before, I usually recommend the 15% Salicylicfor acne. If you are dealing with any types of acne scarring, I recommend upgrading to the Super Cop 2X Remodeling Cream. It is used to fill in the scarred areas after the acid breaks them down.
|
|
30. I am interesting in your Glycolic peel products but I am not sure of which one I should ordered. I am 53 year old, Asian, fair skin and very oily. I have tried Glycolic before (I did not know the exact strength) and the result is minimal. I have blemishes and discoloration on my face. I need your advise on product % for the peel as well as protection products, a list of what I need and cost would make it a lot easier for me to place an order with you. |
Since you are dealing with acne issues I am going to recommend that you try theAcne Treatment Kit. It has a peel (try the 15% Salicylic - which is the best acid for oily/acne skin) and 15% Toner for daily, and pre peel usage. It also has a cleanser choice (opt for the Alpha/Beta oily cleanser) and a Blemish Control Gel. I think that you could use the Super Copper Serum on a daily basis, but you can start off with the regular Copper serum if you are not really dealing with scarring. The copper will help to lessen the oily areas and will also help to heal everything faster. The Emu oil is wonderful for acne skin types as it can balance to oil production and it is also an anti inflammatory and an anti bacterial product. Put on a few drops after you put on the Copper serum as a daily moisturizer.

31. Hi, I am not sure of what I want to purchase and was wondering if maybe you could help. I am 35 and have always tanned either in the beds or real sun I don't do it obsessively but the sun and time haven taken its toll. I am noticing the lines and wrinkles that every woman hates. the firmness is starting to go... so do you have any packages? I would definitely like to try an acid peel. thank you in advance for your time. |
|
Yes, I can suggest a few excellent products geared towards your issues. I think the kit that you may want to try is the Platinum Complete Rejuvenation Kit. It contains the glycolic peel, toner, cleanser, copper serum and copper eye cream. The only thing that you may need is a moisturizer. I would definitely recommend the Emu oil (it can be mixed directly with the copper serum for a perfect moisturizer ---2 pumps serum & 2 pumps emu oil). Also, apply the copper eye cream very sparingly!!! It is very strong!
The molecular retinol products and Vitamin C are also EXCELLENT for aging skin types. You will see a difference quite quickly with these 2 products.
Have a wonderful day!

32. Hi, I've been spending a lot of time carefully reading about peels on various sites and yours has impressed me as being very well researched and consumer friendly. I'm not exactly sure what I should order. I am 53 years old, Caucasian with Type 3 skin-dark hair and eyes, I tan, but I can burn too. The problems I'd like to address are some brownish spots on my face from the sun, millia, and pronounced furrows between my brows and over my eyebrows along with small wrinkles around the mouth area. Recently, Jan 13th I had a lower facelift and have small scars around the ear area that I would love to blend in so that they would almost disappear. Any ideas for that? I've tried a 30% glycolic peel in the past, but didn't see any major results. Should I try a 50%? Could you recommend a program for me. I would greatly appreciate it.Thank you in advance. Your testimonials speak very favorably. |
|
Yes, we have some wonderful products that I think will help to complete your transformation.
As for the peels. I think that you would be able to handle the TCA 20% (you can dilute it with a few drops of water to lessen it!) since you do not have sensitive type skin. It will be very beneficial for your darker spots and lines. It is a peel you will do on a monthly basis, and it will give excellent results. I also highly suggest the Fading Gel and 15% Glycolic Serum to prepare your skin prior to the peel.
The other product I must encourage you to get is the Copper peptide serum or SuperCop remodeling cream. I think that you may want to start off with our regular copper serum for your entire face, and then try a sample of the SuperCop for your ear scar areas. *(It is very strong and can produce an itchy feeling for a few minutes after application---if you apply it and then put some emu oil on top, this seems to lessen the itching!). *You will notice that the copper will help to get rid of the millia.
For the furrows and other pesky lines I suggest 1 of the 2 spot treatments: Wrinkle Be Gone or Derma Snap 8L. Both are targeted instant type treatments to lessen lines.
The Emu oil would be very beneficial for your entire face. It goes on very well with the Copper serum and is used as a daily moisturizer.

|
33. I wonder if you have any product that would be beneficial to a crepy throat. I don't guess I have treated it as well as my face (or as well as I should have). Anyhow the neck is crepy in spite of all the moisturizers I have been using and is slightly discolored (which I understand comes from spraying perfume or cologne there). I have just started using the Copper Peptide serum on my face and neck and am hoping that will help and have also ordered your Platinum package with 30% glycolic acid plus the emu oil. Should this do it or do I need something else? Note: the skin is kind of loose right in the middle of my neck. No really that bad, but loose.
I hope you can suggest something short of a face lift. |
|
You are definitely using the correct products to help with the ageing issues! The copper peptide is extremely beneficial and should help to tighten things up. *After you have been using it for awhile, you can also consider trying out the SuperCop remodeling cream. It is an even stronger version of the Super CP Serum! It can be very helpful with producing more collagen and elastin, but, it is a bit itchy after application. *This does go away however in a few minutes. I have found that applying it with the Emu oil seems to help this sensation be less irritating. It should only be applied in the evening hours due to its blue color. It is easily washed off in the morning with an exfoliating cleanser like our 10%. The 15% serum will also help you with these issues. Make sure to apply it every day to help break down any damaged tissues and to keep exfoliating where the peel leaves off.
I would also highly recommend the Vitamin C Serumand the Molecular Retinol .30%to tighten and protect from radicals!

34. I have for many years had hyper-pigmentation, mottled in areas and dark on the neck. I also have a scar that runs vertically down the right cheek of my face. My question is in regard to the most suitable kit and strength of glycolic acid. I am a little bamboozled as to which would be most suitable as they all sound so good. |
I am thinking that you should try the Scar Treatment Kit. That will contain everything you need to help your scarring and hyper-pigmentation issues. As for the strength. Since we are dealing with scarring and not regular maintenance, I would suggest about the 16% TCA for you (unless you consider your skin sensitive! -- then start at the 12.5%). Now, if you are only going to be using this on the darker and scarred areas (and not your entire face), you could possibly opt for a 20%. Most definitely get the Super copper serum or the Super Cop 2x cream since they are the stronger ones.

35. I have had a problem with cystic acne since I was 19, I am 37 now and still am battling it. Can you tell me the best treatment for this? My scarring is bad, probably not the worst, but my face is the first thing I see in the am, I don't like what I see!!!! I have large raised scars with putting ( to me it looks like I got hooked up on barbed wire. This I want to lessen. I have ordered an used a salicylic peel and followed with a glycolic cleanser and toner. My face is red, itchy and swollen. I fell upon your web site tonight , and was impressed by what I saw and read. can you give me a program that is more customized for my problem skin? |
|
Yes, I definitely know about what you are dealing with and have some suggestions. I am going to suggest that you try out our Acne Treatment Kit. I suggest the 12.5% TCA peel since it sounds to me like you have rolling scars. TCA is the best choice to treat these. You will end up applying about 3 layers as you move on, but for the very first time only apply 1 layer. Move on to 2 layers, etc... Use the A/B Cleanser daily and opt for a stronger copper product to help regenerate new tissues to replace the scars.
Now, the biggest mistake people make when they have acne is to not moisturize properly. If you do not moisturize after cleansing, your skin makes up for the dryness by turning on the oil factory and going into overdrive. We like you to put on a mixture of the Copper peptide (you should opt for the super serum since you have scarring) and emu oil. The copper will help to fill in the pitted scars (most definitely this works! I have used it for this myself), treat the other scars and help your skin to heal itself quicker after a breakout. The Emu oil is anti-bacterial and anti-inflammatory and works excellent for blemish prone skin.
Follow the program and you will see some real changes. Make sure to take a before/after picture! It will be worth $50 in free merchandise for you. You should start to see a difference in your acne and scarring in a month. If your scars are not filling in quickly enough, you may need to increase the acid strength for those areas only!

36. How effective is the Photo Enzyme peel in conjunction with the 40 percent glycolic peel? It dissolves the top layers of dead skin . . . is that in a laser resurfacing manner or in a "masking" manner? I bought the scar kit and the glycolic cleanser, and like the results I've seen so far, but I'd like to jump start the process with something more powerful. My skin looks smooth to most people, but I feel like it is scarred all over the place, between old blemish scars, and a scar from stitches. Speaking of the old blemish scars . . . it feels like more of them are coming out -- like they had been hidden under other surface layers. I'm 33, and have always used good skin care products, and masked regularly, and I'm surprised to see all the scars coming out. Is that just my imagination? Also . . . I'm looking at your eye creams, and am curious how these products compare to something like Strivectin. |
|
Wow, that is an interesting concept of scars coming out. It may just be the fact that the dead layers of skin were covering them up. Usually the dead skin builds up around the edges of the scars and that makes them seem more pronounced, not the opposite. **What you may want to look into is the Super Cop 2x Cream. It works along with the peels to fill in scarred areas. The acid breaks down the scar tissue and then the copper regenerated new, unscarred tissue to take its place. *It works wonderfully. If you are just looking at a few little spots, the cream (which is the strongest) would probably work very nicely for you.
OK as for the photozyme mask/peel. This really is a professionally used mask in salons and offices. It is an excellent addition to glycolic acid treatments. If you are looking for a nice deep peel, you can do the photozyme treatment 1 day, and then a day later do the glycolic peel. Since the outermost layers are dissolved, the acid can penetrate deeper. *The same goes with using the Glycolic products on a daily basis (cream, cleanser...). We have many people who really love that treatment. *Yes, it is true that you could do the enzyme mask and then do a peel immediately following, but please work up to this as the enzyme can make your skin much more sensitive to the acids.
OK, the Strivectin issue. According to Dr. Leslie Baumann (in Elle magazine --- and many other doctors!!!) , the cream has this miracle buzz thing going on, but they do not have any scientific evidence, or published research proving either its anti-aging or stretch-mark reduction benefits. Copper peptide does however, have several published papers documenting its capabilities for growth of collagen in the skin. 70% of users experience a significant increase of collagen in the first month alone (vitamin C is 2nd with 50%, and Retin-a is 3rd with 40%). We are quite sure that you will be happy with the results you can achieve with Dr. Pickart's Peptides! He is the one who patented the copper 2+ ion (the only one with tissue regenerating qualities). None of the colorless peptides, penta-peptides ... have the abilities of our products! ;) Enjoy! And please let us know if you have any other questions!

37. I love your products. I ordered the scar treatment kit and I know that it will take time to fade the scars, but my skin's condition improves so much. The peel didn't produce any flakes for me, but I know that it can peel with or without fakes. My skin becomes so soft and much less acne and much less oily. My question :how long can I continue the peel (30% acid). Should I continue the peel after 8, 10 peels or should I stop ( maintenance only, no peel) for 1 or 2 months and then restart the peels for 2 or 3 months (8, 10 peels) and stop and restart? I wish I took the picture before/after. I didn't. Do you still want the picture now and 6 months later ? |
|
Absolutely, we would love to see a "now" picture and then one 6 months after you have been treating your scars. As for the peeling, you are correct, some people don't ever see the peeling process- this is because Glycolic acid is a mild peel and it generally loosens the stratum corneum and not the underlying layers (if you are looking for a deeper peel please see the TCAs)! I am so glad you are seeing results. There are really 2 ways to decide how to proceed with the peels. *Now, if you are working on scars, please continue treating them weekly (even if you are not doing a treatment on your entire face).
- Do your treatment for 6-8 weeks and then stop for another 6-8 weeks and start again. This is a good method if you are just looking for a pick-me-up every so often.
- If you are like me, and are always trying to stay on top of my skin problems, you should do your 6-8 weeks, and then do a peel every few weeks or so to keep things moving along.
No matter which method you choose, make sure to keep things looking their best by using other acid products daily. I would suggest the cleanser and/or serum combo. Have a wonderful day, and we look forward to seeing your new pictures in 6 months. **If you are dealing with a small scarred area, feel free to do another spot treatment (on the scar only) an additional time per week to break it down more quickly.

38. I am concerned about my skin care. I bought the kit for my wrinkles around my eyes. I've been using the products as strictly directed since Saturday. My eyelids are so swollen and the skin around my eyes and eyelids are 5 times MORE wrinkled than they were before I started the skin care. I look 20 years OLDER. Please tell me what to do...! (see end results below). |
|
If you are seeing swelling, you are using too much copper. It is a very strong product and you need the tiniest (think like the amount of lead that is sticking out of a dulling pencil tip) amount you can possibly apply (think about the fact that the jar should last you a year!). Make sure you are only using the copper 1x per day to begin with, trust me... you will have no problem using more cream when your skin becomes adjusted to its strength. Try some of the suggestions below, they are directly from Dr. Pickart. The damp skin and emu combo work very well! Please let me know if you have any other questions regarding this!!! Less is more!
This is a difficult area to rebuild and must be done gradually
- Because this skin may be already badly damaged, start with a very light coating of Copper Intense Regenerating Eye Cream then gradually increase the amount applied with time. If you experience irritation, this means that too much copper peptide is passing through a very damaged skin barrier.
- One approach is to use emu oil one night to replenish skin lipids, then the Copper Eye Cream every second night.
- You can also try applying the Eye cream while the skin is still wet. from cleansing.
- For some persons, the original Copper Serum is milder on damaged skin.
- As your skin barrier is repaired, you will become less sensitive to any applied material. With time, the skin around your eyes skin should tighten and firm.
- If you experience excessive dryness, use a little less of the copper peptide products and cover them with a light amount of Emu Oil.
Hi Jen! My face is doing so much better. All the swelling has gone down and this past Saturday was my second "spa day". I still have some really deep wrinkles under my eyes and on my eye lids...but I'm optimistic that those will look better in the next 2-3 weeks.
Thanks for your help and support, it really means so much to me. In my job, I am responsible for customer service and I try to treat people how I would want to be treated. Your support and customer service is Phenomenal! You should be proud!

39. I'm 57 years old and would love to get rid of the wrinkles. At least make them less noticeable. I do have deep crows feet. And the aging lines around the mouth. I do use a product now the has lactic acid. I do better with lactic acid because it does not burn my skin. I would like to start use your copper peptide for the face and eyes. Could you please tell me what I should, please threat me like I'm your mother. O. K |

Hi MOM!!!! So glad you wrote! ;)
The copper is wonderful for treating aging issues. It has the ability to create new collagen in your skin. Our Vitamin C is another wonderful antioxidant that will stimulate new collagen growth! Actually, 70% of all users note a significant increase in collagen within the first month of use.
I would suggest that you start off with either the regular Copper Serum or Vitamin C, and pair that with the Emu oil. The emu oil is transdermal (able to penetrate deep into the layers of our skin because it is so much like our own bodily composition) and will help to carry the product even deeper into your skin. It is also an excellent moisturizer ---amongst other things (anti-bacterial, anti-inflammatory, skin thickener... ... ). They both come with a pump and I suggest 1-2 pumps of the copper mixed with 1 pump of the emu --- mix in fingertips and apply to entire face and neck.
*If you like, you can apply your antioxidant (copper or Vitamin C- with or without emu) to your eye area as well. If you are looking for an "eye" cream, we have a wonderful new one called Platinum Eyes - Restoration Therapy. It is an instant tightening, super antioxidant, anti puffy, anti dark circle eye cream, etc... Have a wonderful day! Let us know if you have any other questions!
**My other mom uses these same products and loves them!!! ;)
Thank you so much for your quick responds and being so nice to your other Mom. I do appreciate this and look forward to receiving my products.
Your real Mom did a wonderful job raising you because you have a great personality. I can tell that in your writing.

40. I was a smoker for 30 years and i am 51 years old now. i have these above the lip wrinkles that are quite deep. when i smile they stretch out and don't look so bad but when i am just talking they look terrible. Can you tell me honestly if there is anything i can do to reverse these? i also have a horizontal crease between my nose and upper lip that adds to the wrinkled look, that only shows when i do smile. I really hope there is something i can do, and can you give me detailed instructions including which of your products, which strength etc, and some kind of a true real time frame in which i might expect improvement. |
|
I am going to suggest some of our stronger products, since you already have deeper lines. I am quite sure you will see improvement within a months time! **Always take a picture so you can see what is really happening and make proper judgments as to the changes. I am going to suggest, as long as you do not have sensitive skin, that you try our 30% glycolic serum and use it with the SuperCop remodeling cream. *You will probably want to do a nice 16% TCA peel 1x per month to really stimulate new collagen growth!
Apply the acid serum daily (1x and then 2x if needed) and the supercop in the evenings. *The supercop is very dark blue and it works best to apply when you go to bed. ****Now, this is very strong and will be itchy for a few minutes after you apply it!!! If you mix in some Emu oil, it helps to curb the itchy feeling. But--it does go away in a few, so don't worry! ;) If after a month or two you want to add in a peel, your skin will now be nice and prepared (after the previous product usage). This will help things move along (if necessary). As for other products, The Synake (Dr.Platinum's Potions) is a great instant tightening product that is applied sparingly to your most problem areas.

41. I have very bad scars from cystic acne. I have been using the scar treatment kit 4 about 6 weeks with some improvement what can I do to speed the process or try different to get rid of the scars. they are very deep and noticeable. |
|
How wonderful! You have only been using the system for the 4-6 weeks and you are already seeing signs of improvement! Everything is moving along perfectly. Remember it can take months for your skin to reach a state where you are happy with the results. Your skin is regenerating itself, and that takes time. But, of course I have some suggestions for you!
You do your peel 1x per week, correct? Try doing a full facial peel on your regular day, and then do another "spot peel" (only on the scars themselves) about 3-4 days later. This will help to break down the scars more quickly. Also, depending on the percentage, and the amount of time you are leaving the peel on, things can be adjusted there. Try leaving the peel on for longer amounts of time, or increase the % if necessary. *(It is much easier to just leave the peel on for longer amounts of time!).
The results will keep coming! Just keep going along with the program and add the extra time from above. *You can also purchase (if you don't have it) the SuperCop cream to use on the scars only. Fill them in with the cream (dark blue so use in the evenings!) and then wash off in the morning. **If after several months you are ready to do a stronger peel than I highly suggest the TCA 20% or Jessners.

42. I purchased the Intense Regenerating Serum (Copper Peptide) and absolutely love it......I use it every night after I cleanse my face and then put Renova on top of the Intense Regenerating Serum.......I have been using Renova for 3 years and that has improved my skin greatly.....but now with using the Intense Regenerating Serum, my skin is even more translucent, soft and has a glow to it ...... I am amazed.....and I have only been using it for a few weeks ....... I also can't stop touching my face it feels so soft. But I do have a question......Can I also use it with another product called Botopical? (by putting the Botopical on top of the Renova as a moisturizer?) .....will they interfere with each other's actions so that I should use them separately?.....that I should just use the Botoptical as my daytime moisturizer?.....Please let me know what you think...... Thank you |
|
I have looked up the product and can not see any problem with their ingredients and the copper. The only issues with the copper are to not use it along side a vitamin C product. It will inactivate the C's regenerative properties.
Feel free to combine to your hearts desire! And enjoy the benefits you are receiving, and will be receiving from the copper peptide. Remember, the copper is changing your skin from the inside out, and the results you see will be permanent changes! ;) **You may want to try our Molecular Retinol .30% as an alternative to your Renova.

43. I will try to keep this brief. I learned about you products from the HSN bulletin board and have heard terrific things about them. I would love any suggestions you can offer.
About me.... I have ageing oily blemished skin. With occasional dry patches. And old acne scars. ( A real mess huh?) I am now using a 40% glycolic peel from another company (sorry I didn't know about yours) In the A.M. I use a 2% BHA solution and in the P.M. an 8% AHA solution. My acne is for the most part under control, and I'm fairly pleased with the results, but after reading you very informative website, was thinking I really need to add the copper to my regimen, but I'm not sure which I need. I think I would like to start with samples, so please suggest away. |
How nice to hear that others are talking about our products! ;) Yes, I really love the Super CP Serum. It was created especially for acne prone skin types with and without scarring. It helps to heal any blemishes quicker, fill in scars, even out an oily-T-zone (just a side effect) and of course, the biggie is the collagen production. *Very valuable for aging skin types! I use it everyday along with a drop or two of Emu oil. The emu oil is 100% non comedogenic, anti bacterial, anti inflammatory ... ... and is transdermal (able to penetrate in the deeper layers of skin because of its composition being so similar to human). By applying the copper and the emu oil together, you end up strengthening the copper and pulling it deeper into your skin... and also providing an essential balancing moisturizer! You may also be interested in trying out our 15% glycolic serum. It is wonderful for acne/aging skin types and will help to keep the dead skin from accumulating so quickly. Just don't use this on the same day as your peel! Please let us know if you have any other questions! We are always here to help. Jen

44. I am considering purchasing the 1 oz. 30% Glycolic Acid Peel Kit with a "Normal" toner from your site. I am wondering if that kit would be effective enough for me, or if I should get a different, deeper solution. I have a scarring problem on my shoulders/arms and back (not face), from pimples, and the scars are just small circular discolorations, not a lot of pitting. If I would purchase the 30% solution, would that kit be a good solution for the scarring/discoloration, or would I need to get a deeper treatment? How effective is the 30%, and should I expect to see results approximately within a week or so after using this treatment? Please let me know what you would recommend, and I will purchase the kit that you suggest. |
|
Since your scarring is more on the body I would recommend you use our 30% serum daily along with the Super Cop 2x Cream (anti scar treatment that will help new, unscarred skin to take its place). I think you should try a 60% or 70% solution to get results, the 30% is not going to be strong enough for intense scarring on the back and shoulders!
- Now, if you would like to try this on your face at some point, please review the peel directions and lessen the formulation by putting in an additive! *Our 70% comes with full instructions on how to make any percentage from 20% and up.
I think that you should start to see something happening in the first month (*read over the instructions in the scar treatment kit on the specials page). As long as the peel is not bothering you, you will be able to up the time period you leave it on for a few minutes more each passing week. Please let me know if you have any other questions about this. Have a wonderful day!

45. Tell me please what products would be best for deep wrinkles & pores?I have combination skin. Do you have a money back guarantee? the last month I have bought products that do not work & have lost my money. |
|
First, I absolutely understand your leeriness on products out there today. What I can offer you is this: Our products are used in dermatologist's offices every day. They have a guaranteed % and pH level. All the ingredients are also guaranteed to be as listed on the site and the bottle. We are always here to answer all of your questions and will help you to find the best solution for you problems based on our products. ....
Now, what I would suggest is a TCA peel and copper peptide. The combination of acid (to break down damaged collagen and elastin fibers and to stimulate collagen production) and copper (to flush out the damaged and regenerate new collagen/elastin fibers) is a very powerful combination which has been documented in numerous studies to work. Please take a few moments to read over all the information on the CP Serumand cream page.
I would suggest that if you have never used an acid product or had a peel performed on you before, you should definitely start off with the 12.5% TCA peel. It is used 1x every couple of weeks. Then, start off with the regular Copper Serum ($38.95). Use it on a daily basis (2x). It does not have any lipids in it so you may want to combine it with the Emu oil. The Emu oil is transdermal (able to penetrate deep into the layers of skin) and will help to moisturize and strengthen the effects of the copper peptide. You should also pick up another type of glycolic product (15% serum or Cleanser) to help KEEP the dead skin off while you are not using your peel. *We also carry a wonderful Eye cream (Platinum Eyes - Restoration Therapy) if you are having problems in your eye area as well. There are also larger combination kits on the Specials page which contain all of the above mentioned items.

46. Hi! I am a 40 year old woman with what I consider to be marginal skin. I cleanse every morning with a generic facial cleanser and follow with Oil of Olay facial lotion with spf (?). I have frequent flaking of the skin around my nose and by afternoon, my forehead is oily. The skin on my cheeks feels somewhat dry and the pores in that area appear large. What kind of skin category do I actually fall under and what would help me? |
You definitely fall in the combination skin range. I would suggest that you start using a daily 10% cleanser. It will help to clear out your pores, get rid of the flaky skin and help to balance your skin's differences. Follow that by applying something like Emu oil on your entire face. It is excellent for oily and dry skin combinations. Always apply your moisturizer immediately following washing, when your skin is still damp. Then you can seal in the moisture and also stop your skin from producing too much oil because your skin is dry (oily areas). You would probably do very well to start using a Copper Serum 2x per day. It will help your skin to balance (oily T-zone especially) and also make your skin produce natural moisturizers *(glycosaminoglycans) for the dry areas! If you want to go all out, you may want to add in the 15% glycolic serum for evening usage.

47. I was hoping that you can guide me into some products that you feel will best suite me. I am 26 yrs old, fair skin, mainly oily skin, big pores, breaks out quite a bit, blotchy, uneven surfaced skin and many craters / pits due to previous acne. I had a couple deep chemical peels done about 6 years ago at a Doctors off and they took really well. I had seen that you had a Scar Treatment Peel Kit, which looked pretty good. I was wondering how well this kit really worked, if it could really diminish the pits / craters on my face. Also, if using the kit would cause me to break out more. My biggest and most embarrassing thing is getting my skin to stop breaking out, getting rid of the craters / pits and discoloration from the acne. |
|
What I am definitely going to suggest for you to keep things under control right now is the 15% Salicylic (also found in the acne kit) peel kit. Salicylic is excellent for clearing out pores and keeping excess oil under control!. Then, to help the scars I am suggesting the Super Copper Serum This works well for scar treatment because the acid breaks down the damaged tissues and the copper regenerates new. You might want to get a sample of the SuperCop cream, but DO NOT use it on your entire face! Just use it to fill in the pitted scars! It is stronger than the Super Serum but has too many lipids for acne prone skin types. You will probably do well to use the 15% serum on a daily basis to help break down the scars. *The scar kit comes with daily instructions.
The easiest way to get all of these products is to either purchase the Acne Treatment Kit (which also contains a cleanser and full sized toner for daily use).
Remember!!! The scars do not go away overnight! Always take a before picture, and you will start to see some changes in about 2 months. I used the system to fill in 2 ice pick scars and, in all honesty, it probably took about 6 months to get a really nice result. It is a systematic way of breaking down and rebuilding every day. It works very nicely.
There are also other methods such as needling (to break up the scar tissue) or using TCA on a toothpick (CROSS method) and putting it inside the scars themselves (our 20% or 30% TCA are good options for this target treatment). The biggest point here is that you have to break down the scar tissue, and then the copper allows new tissue regeneration without scarring.

48. Hi Jennifer. May I use the copper creams simultaneously with glycolic creams or serums? Like at the same time? And is supercop stronger than the CP serum? I guess I just don't want to defeat each of the active properties in the products by using them at the same time. Otherwise I would do it. Have you tried your 2X supercop? I'm still trying to get the right system for me. I know I'm asking so many questions, but what is your personal regime and if you'd share your skin issues? Maybe they would be similar to mine. And what is your favorite type of exfoliation (i.e. glycolic acid etc.). I just tried glycolic acid and I think I really like it. Thank you so much...you are such a blessing ... I'm trying so hard to get good skin...it's hard to have skin trouble, you know? |
|
Yes you can use the coppers/glycolics at the same time! ;) Dr. Pickart has formulated this new strain of copper to hold up when used with high potency ingredients like those. Yes, I have tried the SuperCop 2x. It is a very nice cream (not nearly as irritating as I thought it would be). It is not a cream that you need to use on your entire face (unless you are working on severe lines), just spots that are needed.
I have acne prone skin and I prefer the salicylic 15% peel or the TCA peel every couple of weeks. *Not right now however because I am pregnant and salicylic acid and TCA are No No's during pregnancy. If I need to use a peel I will use a low 30% glycolic one instead. *For the most part (during my pregnancy) I use the Camphor Cleanser or A/B Cleanser and the Acne Microdermabrasion Cream.
Every day I usually (not now due to salicylic - I use the camphor) use the A/B Cleanser (with facial brush to get all dead skin off) followed with the Super Copper Serum and my sunblock). *If I happen to have a blemish brewing I use the Blemish control gel before spf.
In the eve I do the cleanser, super copper and emu oil. *If necessary I spot treat with the Drying Lotion! ;) Every few nights I do the microderm cream. I hope that all of my information has helped you! Have a wonderful day!
