The Ultimate Anti-Aging Power Couple: The 2 Best Ingredients to Start With.

Posted by Jennifer Tilney | CEO Platinum Skin Care on Sep 18, 2018

I was over it.

About 19 years ago, acne was my reality.

I was a new mom in my mid 20’s and hell was breaking loose on my face.

I would try another doctor, another spa, avoid public places.

You name it I did it or tried it, all in the hopes that it would finally be cured, and I wouldn’t hide away all the time embarrassed with how I looked.

I researched ingredients and tried everything under the sun until I finally got 100% clear.

What a relief to wake up with clear skin! I still sometimes think about it in disbelief.

Then I got inspired.

My experience drove me to start helping other people I knew we’re dealing with the same thing and that's why I started Platinum Skin Care.

I couldn't sit on the sidelines when I knew I could help save people years of wasted trial and error.

Fast forward to today I'm a little older and a little wiser, but now a new problem faces me in the mirror every morning when I wake up.

Wrinkles and fine lines.

Just when you think you’re done, you find a new challenge.

When it comes to your skin I’m sure you can relate.

But along my journey of self-discovery and product creation you find ingredients and techniques that really work.

You meet pioneers in the industry who have proven results and quicken up the learning process.

You start testing new products and see what makes some work and others fail.

And you find the truth.

When wrinkles became my new foe, I was determined to fight them and win.

And with this power couple you'll find a winner with years of proof to back them up.

Not fluff products you hope will work.

They just work.  Period.

The Anti-Aging Power Couple

My customers would always ask me, “what products actually work for anti-aging?”

After numerous years testing it always comes down to 2 simple ingredients you can add to your daily routine.

Vitamin C and Retinol.

Simple, effective, and a great place to start. Especially when you’re just starting to see wrinkles and fine lines appear on your face.

And the earlier you start, the better off you’ll be long term.

The Real Goal of Anti-Aging

So why these 2 products?

You have to understand what’s really behind wrinkles and fine lines beyond your facial expressions and habits like smoking or eating poorly. Of course those matter, but trying to avoid them can be difficult for some of us and you can’t get rid of all of them entirely.

So while you’re trying to eat healthier and avoid bad habits like too much sun or the worst… smoking.

You can focus on something else.

Collagen and Elastin.

Collagen and elastin are the necessary fibers that give skin it’s firmness and bounce.

The more you have the better your skin should look.

The problem?

As we age we start to lose it.

From an anti-aging perspective, the goal should be to maintain and fortify it over time.

That’s why these two ingredients are so important. They boost it and maintain it for longer.

The Benefits of Vitamin C

L-Ascorbic acid – also known as vitamin C is one of the most important anti-oxidants you can use on your skin.

So much so that it has been considered a gold-standard anti-aging ingredient by industry experts and professionals.

Why does it work?

One of the things that hurts your collagen over time is free radicals like pollution, smoke, UV rays, bad food, you name it.

Vitamin C can help fight those free radicals by minimizing their effects and give your skin the necessary tools to fight off the enemy.

The Benefits of Retinol

As an acne sufferer I’m intimitly aware of retinol. Back in the day it was first used to fight acne.

Along the way they realized that in addition to helping acne prone skin that it was also minimzing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.

No ingredient has been studied and proven to have more results.

It’s simple: Vitamin A is proven to help improve the look of dark spots and pigmentation, fine lines and wrinkles, skin texture, tone and even blemishes.

Why?

Because it helps to build collagen and elastin.

So as you guessed, the earlier you start to maintain and build up your collagen the better you’ll be able to fight off the signs of aging.

Will it make you look 20 again?

I only wish. But it can and is proven to help you look your best.

A worthy goal in my opinion.

How to Use Vitamin C & Retinol in your routine.

Now that we know the benefits let’s discuss how to use them together in your routine to help improve the look of your skin.

The first step is choosing products that have the right levels of actives and ingredients that will actually make an impact.

Many store-bought creams have more gunk and filler than higher strength products like ours at platinum or the ones you get at the dermatologist or an esthetician.

Which was another reason I started this company.

I wanted products that worked!

After trying to so many of the years you just get frustrated with the whole skin-care company game. Profits over people has severely hampered many women’s ability to get the results they wanted and to me? Enough was enough.

Our favorite is something I really enjoyed formulating and testing over the last few years. Our High Octane Vitamin C Serum is an absolute favorite. Just check the reviews and before and after pictures on the product page.

It can help fight against the signs of anti-aging and in as little as a few weeks skin can be visibly brighter, more even, and firmer as if lifted.

High Octane Vitamin C Serum

Studies at Tulane University, among others, have found it can increase collagen production, protect against damage from UVA and UVB rays, correct pigmentation problems, and improve inflammatory skin conditions.

Instructions

To use, all you have to do is place a small amount in the palms of your hands and smooth it over your freshly cleaned and dry face and neck.

As an added bonus don’t forget a broad spectrum SPF 15 or higher before going outside.

The best time to use it?

In the morning.

Nightly Routine: Retinol

Choosing a retinol product can be tricky. The key we’ve found isn’t necessarily by how strong the active form is but also about the penetration value.

The sad truth is that most retinol creams and serums are virtually useless.

The main reason is that they do not deliver a significant enough amount of retinol into the skin's cells. Secondly, they cannot get the retinol deep enough into the skin.

That’s why we created our Retinol Molecular Serums.

With our micro-fluidized delivery system our retinol can get vitamin A as deep as your PRICKLE layer!

That’s 4 layers deep!

Once our retinol reaches your prickle layer and converts into retinoic acid, you will get a higher percentage than you would with a plain (non-microfluidized) retinol product.

Don't be fooled by high percentages that will never convert at a high percentage in your skin. A standard retinol product will lose about 500X its stated percentage when it gets converted by the skin into retinoic acid. Not to mention it will degrade by several percent before it is even applied to your skin. You aren't getting the benefits you think you are following this logic. Now you can really see how special this product is.

Retinol Molecular Serums : VIP price starts at $49.60

Instructions

Apply to clean skin every other night before bed. *You can increase up to each day as long as you are not irritated.

There you have it.

Vitamin C in the morning and Retinol at night.

Ready to start battling those wrinkles and fine lines?

Now you have the answer.
