How to Get Your Glow Back (Step-by-Step Roadmap)
You know that moment when you catch a reflection and think, ‘Where did my glow go?’
If you've ever felt like your skin is dull, tired, or just not looking like yourself anymore, this episode is for you.
Today, we're discussing how to achieve that glow in your 40s, 50s, and beyond. Not with filters or foundation, but with fundamental at-home strategies that brighten skin tone, smooth texture, and bring your radiance back to the surface.
A common question we receive when ladies or gentlemen call is that they are lacking the glow they once had. It used to come so easily; they could just throw on a little bit of powder or something, and then they'd have lovely, glowing skin.
Now, they feel like they're losing that. They don't have that anymore.
Yeah, you get like dull, and the older you get, the duller you get.
Yeah, let's be honest. I mean, it's something that you have to work on as you age. We need to put more intention into our products and regimens, and simply help others.
Yeah, like the first thing that comes to mind, even just thinking about that, is when you're young, you look at babies and toddlers and even teenagers and stuff, like their skin turns over really, really fast, right?
As we age, that whole cycle slows down significantly. Instead of turning over like once every 28 days or so, now you're looking at like a couple of months, so that dead skin just keeps building up and no light refraction.
I mean, nothing, you just look dull. Even after you wash your face, you look dull, and you just don't have that glow, and I know that's precisely what they're talking about.
Yes, exactly.
And obviously, there are things you can do about that.
100%.
I think our basic regimen will take care of that for you.
Yes, you are in the right place if that's what you're looking for.
Yeah, if you're looking to glow again, let's get started.
So what actually causes the skin to lose that elasticity? Pollution, aging, or hormonal issues?
All of the above.
All of the above? Yeah.
All of the above. Everything that happens on a daily basis messes up your skin. It damages your DNA.
Yeah.
And pollution, breathing, and just being alive cause things happening in your body that are technically detrimental, but we're constantly trying to fix them as we go.
But I mean, yeah, just life.
Yeah.
Aging makes you slow everything down.
When you say, ‘fix it.’ We fix it with makeup, right? We try to.
Yes, our body is repairing it to some extent internally. We have our DNA repair enzymes and other mechanisms that try to fix it.
You're putting your antioxidants on. They're trying to fix all those damages, but turning over that skin, I feel like that's almost in its own category, because you just need to exfoliate.
Yeah.
Get that dead skin off. I mean, that can be as simple as using an everyday acid cleanser, which is why we start off everybody's regimen with an acid cleanser.
Yes, it provides a solid foundation.
Yeah, I mean, what does an acid do? It dissolves the bonds that are holding all those dead layers to your skin.
Yeah.
And then that can come off. Use your washcloth to help remove it. It loosens it, dissolves it. Now, you can physically wipe it away.
Use one of those little netted sponges. I like to do that once or twice a day. I put my cleanser on there just to get an extra smooth glow. But I mean, something like that.
That's a great start. So we're going to walk through step by step.
Oh, okay, cool.
We're going to go step by step. We're going through a couple of products that will serve as the key building blocks to help you achieve that glow back.
Yeah.
Okay. First and foremost, Fade Bright.
Fade Bright, yeah. Here's our Fade Bright. Now, this will address a couple of things, not just the presence of a retinoid, which helps speed up the turnover of your skin. There are a couple little acids in here.
Additionally, there are also some brighteners, which help to brighten, enlighten, and even out the skin tone. This could help.
Perfect. Vitamin C.
Vitamin C. Speaking of Secret Agent VI, the newest baddie on our block. Number one, she's fixing a lot of things. It's not just glow.
Yes, Vitamin C helps with the glowing and brightening of the skin tone. It also helps stimulate collagen and a multitude of other beneficial effects.
However, this is also akin to addressing the damages that occur every single day. You know, the pollution, just being alive, aging, all of those things that make our skin slow down its production. This is certainly helping with the whole process.
Taking corrective action.
Corrective action.
There we go. Corrective action.
This will definitely help brighten your skin and give you a clean, even look.
Light peels.
A light peel, absolutely. Like, Mandelic is probably one of the favorites that I go to.
If you really don't want to see a lot of flaking at all or any kind of dryness, you could do like the 22. I usually recommend the 40. We could do something like this every other week.
There are obviously there's other acids. We have a Glycolic 30 and a Lactic 50. Those would all be really good choices.
I think I was going to say that salicylic is another one that's generally used with someone who has more acne-prone or oily skin.
Right.
And their number one concern is not looking to glow. Most of them are glowing.
They're glowing because they have every…
Oil. They have a lot of oil on them.
So that is technically a benefit. If you have oilier skin, you are less likely to experience it as often. If you have oilier skin, you likely have acne-prone skin, and you might already be using acids, which help remove dead skin and control excessive oil production.
But you probably already have glowy skin. You probably want less glowy skin. Like you're powdering your face.
Okay. Regenerate.
Regenerate, our epidermal growth factor.
Yeah. Great for texture.
Absolutely for very, very anti-aging, stimulating, new, of course, collagen, elastin, all that kind of stuff. I mean, there's more than just epidermal growth factor in there. There are numerous growth factors present.
I think, my gosh, how many are in there? Six or so. That can definitely turn your entire skin over and, on a daily basis, help regenerate new skin, which is why it's named Regenerate.
I had a phone call with a customer a few weeks ago and started a very minimal regimen. She began with her acid-based cleanser and then applied Regenerate, which contains copper peptide. I think it was super CP serum was over the moon. Couldn't believe the difference in her skin in just a matter of a couple of weeks.
Awesome.
Yeah. It's exciting to hear that, even with just a couple of little products. It's like you don't have to do a lot to see some results. Sometimes, too much is too much.
Yeah. Well, and you have to start slow anyway. You know, a lot of times, even just the cleanser, it can take a couple of weeks for your skin to tolerate it well every single day. You're not dry or irritated.
Device. LED, our Illuminate mask.
LED.
It's really going to help you get your glow back. I absolutely love our LED Illuminate mask. I've actually been using mine for the last couple of days, actually.
I have been using mine very regularly recently as well.
Yes.
I have definitely been going full throttle with my LED because you kind of have to pick one or the other.
I kind of feel like you want peels or you're doing microinfusion, or maybe I should focus on something for a little bit.
It's a little tough for us because we have to schedule with these podcasts and things.
To get anything done.
Often, I have to think about that. And this is one that you can always do.
You can always do this. There is zero downtime, zero pain. I know. And I have to think about those kinds of things all the time because I wanted to do something like microneedling, and I'm like, 'No, no, I shouldn't.'
I actually had a new one to test. We're making a slight change there, and I wanted to test it, but I couldn't because I'm thinking, 'Nope, I could be red, I could be swollen.' Who knows what's going to happen?
But yeah, this is wow. This is one of the easiest things you can do. And LED has just proven. I mean, it's not like it's, 'Oh, maybe it'll work.' No, no, no. LED is proven to really help your skin.
And I just got to say, though, I mean, don't expect to just use it a few times and think that it's going to transform. You should use this regularly for several weeks in a row and document your progress with pictures.
I mean, just like with anything, report any of these, starting anything new, take photos, because then you're going to see that difference in your skin.
It's not really that difficult if we break it down into a simple A.M. and P.M. routine. In the morning, you'll use a cleanser, your Fade Bright, vitamin C, Regenerate, and then a moisturizer, followed by some SPF.
SPF, yep. And at night?
So, your P.M., you're going to do your Fusion A. And that's something we should discuss, slowly acclimating your skin to it.
Yeah, you definitely. So this is amazing for stimulating your skin to turn over quickly. It's like it puts your skin into a hyper-regenerative mode.
All the time, instead of turning over once every 45 days or so, as you're in your 40s, 50s, and beyond, it speeds that up.
For instance, when you were younger, your skin was constantly producing new cells. And the old is coming off.
As long as you're using your acid, which helps remove dead skin, this process stimulates the growth of new skin. Thanks to vitamin C, regular use of this product can yield significant changes.
Now, if someone talks to me and they're like, 'What's that one product?' I'm always this one, Fusion A. I'm like, just start this, just start this like three times a week.
Yeah. If someone is on a budget and wants to start with just one product?
I'll pick this one generally. And yes, you do have to start slowly with this because retinoids, even if you've used other retinoids, such as retinol, which is a blend of retinoids with retinol being the mildest.
And then there's retinaldehyde, which is positioned right below tretinoin. And then there is the granactive retinoid, which is an ester of tretinoin. This is a little stronger than what most people are used to, even a mild one.
So you have to start really slow. Check in two to three times per week, or every other day, to see how you're doing. As long as you're not irritated, red, or too dry, add one more day next week.
Then, don't push it past that, because that could be the day that throws it off, and you start getting all dry and irritated, and everything's burning, well, cut back again.
However, anyone can easily get started using this. I'm positive.
We also have some people who prefer a glycolic acid or multi-acid serum over a retinoid. You know, some people will just call and say, 'You know what, my skin is just too irritated.' They can't fine-tune that, you know? So, they might then opt for something like a multi-acid serum.
Yeah. We offer our Serum 15, a blend of glycolic, mandelic, phytic, and hyaluronic acids, along with various vitamins. However, this 15% acid also comes in a 30% version.
Start at 15% and maintain that level consistently. And you can feel this when you put this on, it burns.
Yeah.
A little peel would feel. Do this twice a week when you're first starting.
But even just adding this in twice a week.
Yeah.
For a more radiant glow, you should exfoliate more frequently. So, you have that nice reflective surface, something like that. Super simple.
Excellent. What about our enzyme mask, our Derma-Zyme?
Oh, that's a good one.
Derma-Zyme is another excellent option.
I've got one right here. Derma-Zyme, because it contains not only enzymes but also acids, and features multi-size scrubbing beads. So, when you scrub your face, you usually feel the big ones, but there's a variety of sizes, and there are teeny, tiny ones that, as you're rubbing in here, get all your pores clear and stuff.
And I like actually to leave it on for a little bit, too. You can gently scrub it on and then leave it on for a few minutes, 5 to 10 minutes, allowing the enzymes to do their work, as they will remove only dead skin tissue.
You can leave an enzyme mask on all day long without any harm to you. It just helps to remove that dead skin. But what a way to achieve a nice, glowy, and super-smooth skin.
I believe that having smooth skin is a significant part of achieving that glowy look, as well as having moisturized skin.
Like smooth and moisturized. Make sure to moisturize. Use products like Regenerate, which contains a lot of hyaluronic acid that helps. Nano Hyaluronic is another excellent option.
And then apply a good moisturizer. I feel like Secret Agent here is a little bit moisturizing. Like, I really like how this feels.
Now I have more oilier skin. I don't have to put a lot on, but I almost feel like good for me.
I agree.
Often, I can add more moisturizer, but I don't need a ton of it. And I do; I feel like I'm glowing and stuff like that. I never feel like I'm not glowy.
Right, exactly.
Maybe I'm too glowy.
Okay. Therefore, if someone is seeking a more intensive exfoliation, they may want to consider a monthly peel. What options would you think?
I love TCA. Here. TCA 7% or 13%. I feel like if you want a little milder, make this a lot more reasonable.
Perhaps this is your first time trying a layered peel. I think TCA 7% is like the dream peel. Start with maybe like two layers. It's not that stingy. I think it's so colorable.
It really is.
I think that's a great place to start. And if you don't even want that much, do one layer. It'd be stronger than a glycolic or mandelic, but still perfect.
And that is the ultimate way, of course, for achieving anti-aging benefits and, of course, super-glowy, smooth skin.
What about our Dream Peel?
That's another easy one, right? There are too many things that we can do, because that's literally a big focus of many of the products. We're always trying to exfoliate and smooth, and stimulate new skin.
So you're always getting that glowing complexion. We're turning over the skin quickly. And this is just like a retinoid on steroids.
This is a remarkably high percentage of retinol. However, this formulation also contains retinaldehyde and granactive. And a considerable portion of THDA vitamin C, which we're also getting in here.
However, you could do this a couple of times a month, over a couple of days. And if you don't want a lot of downtime, you just want a little boost; you could do it in one night.
You don't have to do it two, three nights in a row. You can do it one night and experience just a little bit of mild dryness, and then reap the benefits the next day.
Obviously, we have the tools here. There's some it's, it's not that complicated when you break it down to make sure you got that Secret Agent in the morning, make sure you got a retinoid or multi-acid serum at night, throw in some peels, whether it be the milder peels or a monthly dream peel or TCA, along with something extraordinary like this.
And they will be on their way to just glowing.
Absolutely. Super simple.
