The Eye Routine That Actually Works (Beyond Overhyped Creams)

Let's be honest, we've all bought the fancy eye cream with high hopes, and for most of us, nothing changes.

In this episode, we're busting the myth that eye creams are the answer for crow's feet, under-eye wrinkles, and crepey, thinning skin.

I'll share what actually works to firm and smooth this delicate area, like micro-stamping, copper peptides, and the right actives applied safely and strategically.

Because this part of your face might be delicate, but it's not hopeless.

One of the most talked about areas on our faces is our eyes.

Yes.

I'd say that 60-70 % of the people who call in, when they list their laundry list of things, always have a slight pigmentation of this. They say under-eye wrinkles.

Crow's feet.

Crow's feet.

Oh, and then the heavy lids.

There we go. Yes, I hear that a lot as well.

Yes.

They feel a little defeated because they have a drawer full of eye creams that they have been...

You know how it is… You have that drawer of products that you feel like, 'Oh, this is the product.'

‘This is the one. Their marketing was so good.’

Yes. And you get a little discouraged after using it for a couple of days or weeks, but you know, it's a problem.

We will now discuss why certain eye creams fail to penetrate deeply enough. And what you really need to do to get that collagen stimulated and start getting on the road to some nice, tighter under-eye skin or lids.

Let's do everything we can.

Yeah, let's go over that. They're always overhyped. They're always overpriced. But it's not just one product. You need a series of things that will definitely help you.

For sure. You cannot always rely solely on a single magical product or ingredient.

Yeah.

Because a lot of times, yeah, there's every time you turn around, there's a new ingredient…

Right.

With a new, incredible story. And that ingredient may be superior to some currently available options. And it may not be.

I mean, a lot of times when you go back to basics, these ingredients are the basics because they work and have been proven to work for decades, such as retinol and retinoids. Like, hello, we have some in our eye cream.

Yes.

We have the right ingredients in our eye cream to help you. What is an eye cream? Most of the time, it's a milder formula than they would typically put on your face, because everybody's like, 'Oh, the eyes are so sensitive.'

Yeah, the eyes can be sensitive. But they're also not so sensitive that you can't use everyday ingredients and normal percentages. Many businesses often create watered-down products for the eye area, and then they enhance the moisture factor.

It's like, 'Oh, it feels so luxurious.' They feel moisturized. And maybe they look plump and moisturized. It's just water.

It's a glorified moisturizer.

It's not really doing what you want it to do. And a lot of the ingredients out there are just like fluffy. You know, they're really not doing anything.

However, some things are good. You know, give it an actual chance. Like, I don't ever want to tell somebody, ‘Oh, that was just garbage. Try this.’

No, I mean, take a picture.

Yeah.

Just like we tell you to do with anything you start. If you're using a new product, such as a new eye cream, and you think it is a magical product, you need to use it for a minimum of 90 days and take photos.

And then you'll be able to see because the eye area is tough. That's something that's constantly changing.

We're going to have eye wrinkles. Teenagers have eye wrinkles. Teenagers often develop crow's feet and wrinkles around their eyes.

So, don't think that if you're in your 50s and you have some, it's the end of the world. You're going to have to work on it; you're not going to get rid of it and have perfect smooth everywhere. Nothing's going to do that.

You're going to smile.

Yeah.

You are you're going to talk. You're going to make muscle movements. You're going to squint when the sun is out. All of those things.

Yeah. And you're going to have some lines. And it actually makes you look right; it doesn't look right if you don't have any lines.

It almost looks like, 'Is that okay? Are we looking at an AI person here?’ You know, it just doesn't look right.

Yeah.

Like you have to have a little bit of something to show that you're alive.

And that skin is thin, so that is a thinner skin, the thinnest skin on the body.

So, baby it while you're putting your eye cream on, like how people do, tapping on. Don't be a little bit more gentle, you know.

I have always been far too aggressive putting like products on my eyes. I know that I always have to talk to myself physically. Like, don't be so rough because I'm like all over your face.

I want to do the same for my eyes. I'm always like, 'Slow down.'

Yes.

Don't be too aggressive because, yeah, you're stretching that thin skin out. That doesn't help anything.

Absolutely. Absolutely. Let's review some key ingredients and products to help them get started. So let's see what actually helps with smoothing, firming, and rebuilding.

There are a couple of things to note, such as these two eye creams we have, Platinum Eyes.

Yeah.

It's ours. We also carry Dr. Pickart's GHK Luxe Creepy Eye Escape. I love both of these. I recommend using both of these if you're dealing with a lot of lines around the eyes and similar issues.

Yes.

I recommend using Platinum Eyes during the day and Copper at night. Because Copper, this is all about skin remodeling. This helps break down damage.

Helps to flush that damage.

Cells. Flushes it away. It helps to stimulate new tissue growth. And like Platinum Eyes here, this targets issues like puffiness, dark circles, and helps with collagen, elastin, and free radicals.

This has the retinoids in there. It also has soy in there. There are many things in here. Ubiquinone is an antioxidant and, moisturizer.

This is the longest ingredient list we have in like anything because there are so many things that can help the eye area.

However, I highly recommend both of these to someone who's really, really working on their eyes. And if, for some reason, you also have dark circles and similar issues, applying the Eyelift Express first, I think, is super helpful.

This also contains caffeine. So, if you are dealing with puffiness and edema, which is the general buildup of water, I think it's a 28-day turnaround.

You put this on every day. It's in this cute little roller. Super easy to apply. I would roll it on and pat it all over your eye.

And you could do that upper lid too.

Totally. Like that's what I'm saying. Like, kind of like roll on the bottom, and then you can just put it everywhere. Get it on the rest of your eye. Let that dry for a few seconds, and then apply your eye cream, whether it's during the day or at night.

We have seen some great before-and-after pictures with hooded lids, using the eye roller in the morning, followed by Platinum Eyes. And then, at night, the eye roller was followed by the GHK Luxe.

Yes.

Really can tighten up that area.

Super helpful. Super helpful. And I always like to throw a little dose of reality in here, though, too.

For instance, when you have excessively hooded eyes, these can all help. They're going to help the structural integrity of your skin.

Of course.

They're going to help tighten. They're going to help thicken by building the collagen and elastin.

However, if you have a lot of extra skin, it won't magically make it disappear. Extra skin will never go away with a topical product.

So I just want to say, like, let's be realistic always. Some people may need to undergo an upper blepharoplasty, where the surgeon actually cuts away some of the skin. There's nothing wrong with that.

Correct.

Or lower when they got the excessive thing. I just want to throw in a little bit of reality. This will be helpful, and if you do receive those treatments, you can use these in conjunction with them.

Sure.

I mean, your surgeons would be like, ‘Oh, your skin is beautiful. You just have too much of it.’

You know, tighten it. You're going to heal fast. You're going to heal. You're going to have a very painless surgical journey.

Oh, yeah.

And all of these, don't think it's like one or the other. You can use all of these and get a surgical procedure, like people do all the time. I think it's super important to know that it’s not one or the other.

I get lots of calls post-surgery or they're preparing for surgery.

Yes.

And trying to get all their ducks in a row. So they have all the goods for after their Emu Oil. They regenerate.

Help with your scars and things.

Absolutely.

There are also treatments like the TCA peel, which is used for more intense tightening around the eye area. Probably the most aggressive option we can get is a peel on the eyes. And we do have a video, of course, where I'm demonstrating how to do this, because we do it a little differently than the face. We're putting a little drier application because we don't want anything to drip, but we do like a series of these.

After about the third peel, people start to really notice changes, and they say, 'Wow, this has tightened a bit.' All right. As I said, if you're heading towards surgery, it won't alleviate the issue, but it will resolve it.

And if you've had that, this can help with any kind of scars you have and tighten the remaining skin. Because sometimes they can't make everything perfect with the surgery, and you still might have to do some topical things.

And that's really beneficial for texture, because we do receive calls; the texture under the eyes can become a little bumpy sometimes.

Yes. Yeah, they get those little, little bumps.

Yeah.

Yes.

And 7 is fantastic for that.

7 is perfect. And I have had some people ask me, 'Can I go stronger?' I'm like, ' Yes, you can. ' If you're putting on, we're putting on drier layers. So they're not as intense a layer.

Right.

You know, like when we put it on your face, we're doing like wet, but not dripping. Here, we're doing dry, which means it takes two layers to equal one face layer.

True.

So, I am sometimes like, 'If you're putting 5, 6, or 7 layers of this on and you want to move to the 13, go ahead.'

You know, that's fine. Then you'll start again with two layers.

It makes sense.

Work your way up. They're drier layers. It's not as strong as if you were doing really heavy, wet layers.

Let's talk about the EXO-AD.

Yeah. And what can we do with this? So this is the human adipose exosomes. And this is from our Alqemi line, which is used to be needled into the skin.

Now, obviously, we're not going to needle in our eyes. You can needle the down and the sides here, but we can't needle our lids.

But you can always still use the exosomes. They're highly effective for stimulating collagen and elastin, and helping all the pathways in your skin know who needs to do what. You know, these are the sergeants of our skin, right? Telling everybody what to do.

So something like this is a powder. And my thought process is you need to mix this into a cream or a serum, obviously.

So this is a serum. Our Eyelift Xpress is a serum. So you could unscrew this, pour a little bit of that in there, and swish it around.

You'll need to refrigerate this now, as it requires refrigeration. But you could add it to your Eyelift Xpress.

You can add it to either one of these, as it won't harm anything. It won't be harmed by anything.

You can add it to your GHK Lux. You can add it to your Platinum Eyes.

Put it all in your little beauty fridge that we sell, and they'll all stay nice and cool on your bathroom counter. You don't have to run to the kitchen to get it.

But I think that's a great idea. I would like to take one of the vials from here, put a little bit in here, a little bit here, a little bit in there. Then you make sure you're getting it on all the time.

You can also do it in Dr. Platinum.

I was going to say to put it in one of our potions here.

A hundred percent.

Now, it might be easier than getting it into the Eyelift Xpress, as it has a small rollerball on it.

It is a little bit harder. You have to pop the ball out a bit.

Yeah. Yeah. That may take a little bit of finesse. However, these are truly exceptional, the Platinum Potions.

Yes. These are the ones we specifically like for the eye area. So, for example, if you visit our website and navigate to the two-potion or four-potion page, you'll find a list of all the active ingredients and their corresponding benefits, as well as suggestions for combinations that can be used to create various effects.

And the ones that we have on there that are super for the eye area are, of course, our Matrixyl Synthe'6.

We have the SKINectura, and you can see all the designs around her eyes. This is for the eyes.

Additionally, Citrustem stimulates the production of collagen and elastin.

All of these are excellent for the eye area. These can also be mixed into anything else. You can mix it into your creams. You can mix it with your adipose exosomes.

You can do whatever you want with these. They're just intense percentages of active ingredients. Like we have active ingredients in here. These are more active ingredients.

You could add some of those to your eye creams. You know, that's what I love about this.

Endless possibilities.

Endless possibilities.

That's great. That's great. Great listing of products here.

Yeah.

They can pick and choose. You don't have to use them all.

No.

You can start with one or two. If someone had to pick, my favorite question is, “If they had to pick one.”

For instance, if somebody calls and says everything's terrible.

Yeah. I need to start with something.

I would tell them to do the peel. Like, if they're like, ‘My eyes are bad. I hate it.’ I would say, ‘Go ahead and do this once a month.’

Yeah.

And we'll work from there. Then I want you to start using another regimen, at least an eye cream.

I just had a thought. One product we didn't discuss is Emu Oil.

Emu Oil is great around the eyes because it's also a great makeup remover. Very moisturizing feeling. And it's really hydrating around the eyeline.

It is. I use this.

All those little wrinkles smooth out at night. It's just, I don't know.

I use this to remove my eye makeup. It's like, that's what I do.

The first thing when I walk into the bathroom, my hair's not up already. I clip it up and then pump Emu Oil.

Yeah.

And start, I literally lie rest on the sink on my elbows because, and just begin gently circling until all the mascara bits are off or whatever. And then wipe that off with my wet washcloth. And then I wash my face.

Yeah.

But that is step number one.

Yeah.

And you do, you feel good. Because I don't use any, I don't use my AB cleanser on my eyes.

Of course.

You know, this cleans it all off. I wipe it off with my washcloth. And then I go and use AB everywhere else.

However, your eyes do stay nice and moisturized because the oil still lingers around. And, of course, another use for this is that it can help other ingredients penetrate.

So, if you want to apply your exosomes and eye creams, you can either add a little of this to them or use it directly on top to help push it deeper into your skin at any given time.

I find that that's not the greatest during the day.

Right. It’s tough.

You know, because then your eye makeup can smear if you have too much oil on. Ending with the creams and then applying your SPF is probably the best approach.

But at night, it's a wear.

At nighttime, you can load it on.

It's also anti-inflammatory, too. Consider whether you naturally have puffier eyes.

And it's transdermal, so it will help carry some things deeper into the pores and deeper into the skin.

Yeah.

I think we provided them with all the necessary information to get on the right track. So, if you have crow's feet and you're feeling a little defeated.

Yeah.

Stick with it - a good routine and regimen.

Yes. Yeah, it's easy. It's easy. If you have any other questions, please contact us at support@platinumskincare.com or call us Monday through Friday.
