The Truth About Collagen Loss (That No One’s Telling You)

“You don't need injections or a Med Spa membership to rebuild collagen.”

Today, we're breaking down five affordable, science-backed ways to boost collagen at home so you can firm, plump, and smooth your skin without ever stepping into a clinic.

Let's discuss collagen.

Yep.

And let's discuss why we lose it and, you know, what factors play into that.

Yeah, just life, right? Life in general. As you age, you lose collagen. What is it, 25, 23, something like that?

At 25, you're at your peak.

1%? What was it, 1%? And then you just keep compounding that, losing an additional 1% every single year. So, you've lost, let's say, from 25 to 50, which is a 25% loss of your collagen. I mean, that's terrible.

Yeah.

So there's nothing you can do about that either. I mean, that's just living. And then…

Stress, sun.

Stress, right? Obviously, you can help protect yourself when you go outside. You know, there are obviously some key things. There are two key things to protect yourself outside from damaging your DNA and your collagen, and that's vitamin C, right?

So something like applying high-octane vitamin C every day. It mentions three different versions of vitamin C. So, this is super effective at protecting not only you but also your skin. As the rays hit your skin and cause damage, the vitamin C, which I've discussed before, helps to fill in missing electrons. So those cells are perfect again and usually replicate. So you don't have issues, growths, or marks. So very important.

And then there's another thing: sunblock. I mean, there's been a lot of discussion about sunblock lately, and I understand that chemical sunblock is not suitable for you. I don't like that either.

However, a physical sunblock, such as zinc or titanium dioxide, that simply sits on the surface is like a multitude of little mirrors that reflect the sun's rays off you to help protect your skin from damage. And that's your collagen that's being damaged by the sun, you know? So, if you're going to get some sun, get it on your arms and maybe on your legs. You only need like 10 minutes or so.

It doesn't have to be your face. Let's not damage your face. But yeah, those are things that you can actually do on a daily basis that'll help prevent more.

Well, let's move forward with a more in-depth strategy.

Right.

Yes.

More things.

Let's discuss some affordable ways to stimulate collagen with peels.

Peels, TCA, I cannot say enough. There have been studies done. I'm not just making this claim arbitrarily. TCA has been shown to stimulate the production of collagen, elastin, and glycosaminoglycans, which are the natural moisturizing factors of the skin.

So this is just number one if you're concerned about collagen and elastin. They all kind of go hand in hand, really. TCA, in general, but specifically TCA.

Got it.

You really need to take a little social downtime if you want to work on your collagen effectively. But something like that.

And, you know, it doesn't matter how aggressive it is. It will still take around 60 to 90 days before you start seeing noticeable changes, even with a strong peel like a TCA peel. Still going to take time. So, you know, always take your pictures and continue.

Another one, obviously, is called collagen induction therapy. So clearly, this is going to help with collagen.

Yes. So, something like microinfusion, where you use small, fine-tipped needles, goes over your entire area. We have 30 of these needles here. Stamp, stamp, stamp, stamp.

You can do this one to two times per month.

Right.

This will also stimulate the production of new collagen in your skin.

We also have a wide range of excellent serums to work with. And generally, let's bring this up, like, because some people might think that, you know, collagen begets collagen. You can't just put some collagen on your face and assume that that's going to help your collagen grow or something.

Collagen is a large molecule, and it won't penetrate well. You must physically push it into the skin using a device, such as a microinfusion needle. When discussing methods that can be injected into our skin to support collagen production, we have options such as exosomes.

Here's the human adipose exosomes, which are excellent for stimulating collagen and elastin, and all that kind of stuff. I would like to mention that our PDRN serum contains collagen. This is the only way the collagen is going to get into your skin: if it's being needled into your skin because otherwise, the molecule is too large.

So, the only time collagen is really beneficial topically is if it's not applied topically. You're pushing it into the skin. Otherwise, think of it as a nice, glorified moisturizer.

But don't just purchase a collagen cream, you know. That won't help your collagen.

Got it.

It must be pushed into the skin. So that's something to think about, right? You know, collagen is great. This is going to stimulate collagen, but we need to push it into the skin where it will actually help you in the desired way.

Got it. Now that we've discussed chemical peels and micro infusion.

Yep.

Let's talk about some devices here.

Yeah, right.

So LED. LED is excellent for firming the skin and promoting collagen production. It's also very easy to use. It's painless. It's something that can be done in between 10 and 30 minutes. Every other day is plenty.

Yes.

And that, like our Illuminate right there, that's a super, super mask that has actually had like a higher irradiance level. It's a little more potent than most at-home masks.

There are different levels, ranging from low to medium to high. When you get to that high, it's really potent and still feels like nothing, but that's really helpful. And that's also something amazing: if you're already undergoing a collagen-stimulating treatment, such as microinfusion or a chemical peel, apply your LED mask immediately afterward.

No issues with that.

Nothing at all. Not only is it calming and healing with the red and infrared light, but you're also aiding in stimulating more collagen because they work in tandem.

Sure.

Another thing is like an IPL. Like we have our Viss IPL here that we carry. This is a great product we've been taking for years now.

Yes.

And IPL is wonderful. You use the rejuvenation cartridge, also known as a handpiece, if you want to call it that.

And that's really the one that will help stimulate collagen, and firm, and smooth the skin. And there's another cartridge too, but that's more for hyper, no, I'm sorry. It is for acne.

And then, so there's the acne one, the rejuvenation one, and then the hair removal one.

Yes.

So you definitely don't want to choose the wrong one.

You should definitely opt for the rejuvenation option if collagen and anti-aging are your primary goals.

Now, by alternating these devices, the LED can be used in conjunction with your peels.

With anything.

That duo right there is truly amazing.

Yes.

In the IPL, you have to space out from the chemical peels.

Well, so let, you know, let's think about that. You can actually do this a couple of times a week.

Okay.

The directions say I want to say it's twice a week. I'm not looking at it. Two or three times a week.

It depends on the type of cartridge you have.

Yes.

So, if you can do that two or three times a week, you'll probably wait three days or so.

Sure.

Once you've done that and waited three days, you can proceed and do something else. So, let's say you decide to undergo a TCA peel.

Okay.

Well, then, with your TCA peel, you have to wait and follow those rules. So that one says you have to wait 30 days.

So, you wait 30 days, and then you may want to consider some needling, as it's excellent to keep rotating and keeping your skin guessing by doing different things. And your skin is just going to be so busy, you know, growing.

Yes.

So, you know, we decided, okay, I did that. I've waited 30 days. I'd like to proceed with my infusion now.

And this you can do once every two to four weeks. That depends on how aggressive you are.

So, if you only went over your face once, I would say you can do that in two weeks without a problem. If you've reviewed it two or three times and have undergone a particularly aggressive treatment, then you might want to wait three or four weeks before taking any further action. But once that time's up, well, you know, move on and pick the next thing or cycle those.

Many people enjoy cycling. And I think that's, that's a really good option. Other peels, such as our Vitamin A Peel, are known as the Dream Peel.

This one is rich in not just vitamin A, but also vitamin C. We've already discussed how beneficial vitamin C is for your skin, as it stimulates collagen production. So those that are in here as well. You've got THDA, which is actually the oil-soluble form of vitamin C, and it's really good for hyperpigmentation and all these wonderful things.

However, that is certainly mixed with the three different forms of vitamin A here. Excellent for stimulating…

Perfect.

Collagen. And of course, talking about vitamin A, you know, an everyday retinoid. You need an everyday retinoid.

And our Fusion A, like most of our products, comes in multiple forms. There are three different forms of vitamin A in this. So, you're getting just the maximum amount that your skin can tolerate.

And this of course is going to help with collagen as well. There are a couple of other little things that you could do. Painless, add it to your daily regimen.

We have some specific potions here, and these are really high percentages. This is Syn-TC, and this is 75% Syn-TC. So, if you think of it like a standard product, you would buy a face cream, and there might be 1% Syn-TC in there.

Okay. So here's 75%. You can mix this into any product you like or use it on its own.

But the TC stands for total collagens. This is about stimulating collagen.

So that is a concentrated ingredient.

This is concentrated.

Let's just discuss how powerful they are.

Yeah. They come in the…

Most use them at full strength.

Yeah.

You can mix it into a 1-ounce or 2-ounce bottle of cream or serum. But, you know, if you want the most bang for your buck, apply it just to the troubled areas, morning and night, and you'll see results.

Absolutely. Or, you know, get one of the... Okay. These are individual, right? So we have this SKINectura. This is a 35%.

Okay.

This is also amazing for collagen. This is the Matrixyl Synthe'6, 35%. And then we said the Syn-TC, 75%.

All of these are used to stimulate collagen. And they're active ingredients. So you can take these.

And here are a couple of things you can do. One, of course, you can apply them singularly. You could mix them into your favorite product.

Or you could get one of our two-potion or four-potion combos, where we mix these for you. Let's say I want two Syn-TCs and one of these. And all of those are all together.

And now you've got a super serum that you can apply every single day, right? So you're getting all this bonus. Another option is to use the needling technique again. If you read your instruction booklet, it says there are some approved serums.

And the Dr. Platinum potions, which is what I have in my hand right here, can be used with this. And how do I suggest doing that? I don't want you to fill this all up and stamp it in your skin, right? I want you to use whatever serum you're going to use here. Let's say you're using the EHR serum.

And then add, you know, a drop of this one to it or a drop of this one to it. And now you're adding more collagen-stimulating things. As seen in this example, our EHR includes epidermal growth factor, hyaluronic acid, and replexium.

Well, replexium is an ingredient like one of these. Its goal is to stimulate collagen. We've already added an additional ingredient to this, but you could add a little bit more.

If you want a drop of this, customize it. That's what this whole line is all about, giving you the power to mix and match whatever you want. That's another way you can use those in your needling.

As long as you're adding like a drop, don't fill the whole thing up. Let's not get crazy.

That's exciting because they can really focus on specific areas, such as Matrixyl, which is particularly beneficial around the eyes, the Syn-TC around the mouth, the smoker's lines, and similar regions.

So, yeah, I mean, that's exciting, and they can really customize it to meet their specific needs.

Exactly. And the more the merrier when you're trying to build collagen. I mean, whatever you can do, do it because we're in a downward spiral. Once we hit 25, that's it. We've to make up for fighting our constant.

Yes.

Yeah.

And platinum skincare is here to help you.

Yes.

To recap, we've discussed chemical peels. We've discussed micro-infusion and our Illuminate LED.

Yeah.

This IPL.

Yep. And then there are the daily products, such as vitamin C and retinoids. And also, like the different active, slightly different Dr. Platinum potion activities. All of these are super for helping to stimulate collagen.

And when that collagen is stimulated, you're going to see smoother, tighter, more refreshed, glowing skin.

Yes. And many of these collagen enhancers also help with elasticity, which helps keep everything nice and tight.

And those two always really work hand in hand, but yeah, these are excellent. Excellent. So, if you're seeing aging, do all of these things.
