The Truth About Sagging Skin (And How to Fight Back)

Skin tightening isn't about one magic product; it's about strategy.

Today, I'm walking you through the weekly, monthly, and seasonal steps to help your skin feel firmer, lifted, and stronger without needles, downtime, or thousand-dollar devices.

From peels to peptides to power tools, this is your complete skin-tightening blueprint.

Let's go.

Let's talk about skin tightening.

Yes.

Probably one of the biggest requests for help is that, as we age, we just talked about collagen, we start getting a little bit of saggy skin.

And weight loss.

Weight loss. I have a customer, one of my favorite customers here locally. She's a beautiful lady. She's a little bit older than us, so she's approaching 60, maybe, maybe just turned 60. Does not look 60. 60 is the new 40, I'm telling you.

She looks fabulous. Preparing for her son's wedding.

Yeah.

She was so diligent and lost a ton of weight over the last year. She came in and surprised me one day. I was like, “Oh my goodness,” I thought she looked fabulous.

However, she was sad. She felt like she had lost all this weight. However, she had some loose skin, and she was feeling kind of down in the dumps, which totally floored me because…

Right. You’re like, “You look amazing.” And they’re like, “No.”

I couldn't get over how great she looked. And it really made me sad that she was unhappy because she felt like, “I don't know, I did all this, and like, you know, I feel like now, like my skin looks worse.”

It did not. But I did see that she needed some help with elasticity.

Yeah.

So we went to work. She re-upped her VIP immediately.

Yeah.

She was already using some great products ours. She was using a Vitamin C in the morning, a Fusion A at night, and a good cleanser, but she just needed a little more. She needed a little bump.

And she's not one with peels. She doesn't like to do peels.

Yeah, she wasn't doing a series of peels. I believe she may have said she had a series of microdermabrasions, possibly like earlier in the year.

Okay.

But she didn't quite see what she was looking for. And I explained that, you know, that process takes some time, that collagen takes, you know, some time to stimulate and such.

Of course.

But we revamped her program, and she decided to buy the Illuminate LED mask.

Okay. Yeah.

She purchased the 7% GHK.

Yep.

And she purchased a couple of the potions. We made her a two-part potion.

It has to be Progeline, right?

Yeah, Progeline and I think Citrustem.

And Citrustem.

Citrustem. So she came back in about a month ago. Because I think she first started, she came in like every month for a couple of months. She bought the mask first, came in a few weeks later, bought the 7%, came in maybe a month later, and bought Dr. Platinum's Potions.

And when she came in this last time, her son's wedding is coming up next month. And she was just glowing. She was glowing. She was cute as a button. I couldn't believe how, you know, how much happier she looked. And I'm going to be honest…

So she was feeling it.

She was feeling it. And I said, Your skin is taut. We literally did a happy dance in the lobby. And she was so thankful. And she said I gave her goosebumps because I told her how great she looked.

And she really did. And consistency is super important. And she has been diligent.

She has always been consistent. She's been a customer for years.

Yes, she has been. She has been. And she's one of my favorite customers. And I always enjoy seeing her. And she was super happy with her results.

So I cannot say enough about the Illuminate Mask. I use it. I try to use it two to three times a week.

Yep.

I also use…

And the copper. Was that her big thing?

She started adding the 7%. And she's adding like a drop or two in the morning.

She's alternating that with her Vitamin C, of course, because the GHK and Vitamin C need to be alternated.

Yeah.

But she really felt like this, because she started slow. So she was seeing, like, “What is giving me results?”

She had more sensitive skin. Is that her?

Yes.

Yeah. Yeah. Yeah.

So this, she said, she was certainly seeing results with the mask. She was seeing great results with, obviously, her daily products. You know, she's been diligent with those as well.

She looks fabulous. Now she feels fabulous. And I'm just so happy that we got her on a soundtrack.

Well, yeah. And now, I mean, like when someone walks in and they're like sad versus them when they walk in a couple of months later and they're all like beaming, you know, I'm here to get more because I look amazing. I mean, there's nothing better than that.

We're our own worst critics. And I was back up to the first, you know, meeting that we had when she came in a few months ago, and when she, you know, unveiled her weight loss and everything.

And she was just so down in the dumps, and it was just such a difference from when she came in last week. She was just beaming, glowing, looking more gorgeous than ever.

Just a lovely lady. And again, I mean, you can certainly tighten your skin up.

You can.

You just have to be diligent. So let's go through some of these products. And what do you recommend?

Yeah. I mean, obviously very similar things, right? Where we were talking, like the simplest thing is, you know, this just the everyday things, you know, copper, whether, and obviously, there the two different kinds of copper, right?

So we have the GHK over here, which is the first generation.

Yes.

This is what Dr. Pickart created the very first time. And this is wonderful. It's a beautiful blue. And this is something that I like to recommend for people who have more sensitive skin, right?

That or possibly the CP Serum. My big differentiating choice between these is either a) if you're sensitive, choose GHK, or b) if you use acids. Because these cannot go on at the same time as an acid, the GHK can't.

So, if you use tretinoin or Serum 15 or Serum 30, obviously Vitamin C, you cannot put this on at the same time. So if you use a retinol or our Fusion A or something, this is fine to use.

That can be a differentiating factor for some people. So if you're using tretinoin and similar products, you must go with the second generation…

Right.

…so you can put them on at the same time.

And it's the same thing. It's just a couple of drops. They both work amazingly. These are skin remodeling products.

These are definitely a first reach product. If you're dealing with, you know, something where the integrity of your skin is not as good as it used to be.

So you lost that weight. Now that skin hasn't tightened back up, and it will tighten up naturally, but then, you know, it's like excess skin either has to be removed. You can do what you can. And if you can't get where you want to be, then obviously the next option is surgery, but you can go very far with topicals and at-home treatment.

So yeah, copper is probably number one.

Yeah. And you know what, that triggered a memory that when she came in, that was one of her questions was, “Can I apply that 7% with my fusion at night?” So I was excited to tell her that yes, because she was saying, "I'm seeing results with this."

She wanted to make sure she was using it every day and getting that Vitamin C in the morning. So I believe she's moving that to her night regimen now.

Yeah. I generally recommend copper at night and C during the day because just to make it easy, you know, white or yellow. And you think of that as like your bright daytime product, like the sun, and then nighttime copper's blue.

That's not that it leaves your face blue or anything, but think of blue, dark, nighttime. So that kind of helps you to remember when to put it on.

And then of course, there are a couple of other, you know, key copper products. So if you want to, the drops can be added to anything, right?

And the 7% needs to be added to something. You're not really supposed to use that full strength.

Now there are also a couple of other products we have. We have the GHK Luxe. This is the eye cream. And this has, it's 3%. No, it's 2%. This has 2% GHK in it. So you can use this.

I still recommend nighttime for this one. Or if you have crepey skin, you know, neck, even with the face, body, arms, is a big one.

There's GHK. Now this one has the 3%. I knew it. This is a super one to use for the body, and this will really help.

And now I generally recommend alternating this. Actually, I think I have one here. Yeah. I recommend that if you have crepey skin on the body, you know, and you're losing that elasticity and stuff.

For sure.

Triple treat and alternate with the GHK Crepey Skin Escape. I think that is a super, super regimen.

So obviously, retinoids, and we talked about her using her retinoids at night.

For sure.

That is super helpful for keeping the skin nice and firm.

There are a couple of other actives. Now you said that I believe she had the, what was it? Progeline and Citrustem.

Progeline and Citrustem.

Progeline and Citrustem. You could do a 2-potion combo.

That's what we created for her.

We mix them in the bottle, and then you just do a pump of that as you're like a super serum for the day.

A third one that's really, really good is SKINectura. And if you wanted to pick four, if you want to do a 4-potion, I would also throw in, like, some of the Regenerate, the Epidermal Growth Factor. There are so many growth factors in there.

Sure.

You could do all four of these in one, and then it's discounted if you're getting more than one together. The two potions are great, but the four potions are even more discounted.

So those are excellent products. And these are just everyday products. Simple, no pain, no downtime.

LED mask, of course, no pain, no downtime.

Absolutely. Now let's talk about treatments.

Right.

Chemical peels.

Yeah.

Micro-Infusion.

Yes. So the very best thing in the world for tightening the skin is that you're going to be stimulating collagen.

You're going to be stimulating elastin, which affects elasticity. That's what's holding everything in place. And also glycosaminoglycans, because sometimes your skin can look dry and crepey.

Glycosaminoglycans are like your skin's natural moisturizing factor. So stimulating more of those is only going to make your skin look better, more hydrated, and plump-looking. So that's going to help when the skin isn't looking super tight and creepy looking.

But yeah, TCA is number one. And of course, you can use milder peels too. You know, Mandelic or Lactic would be a lovely choice for more sensitive skin.

But TCA, I mean, I can't stress enough. TCA is just the best. It's considered the anti-aging peel.

Sure.

And it's that for a reason because it's just, it's the best. It is the best. And it's so easy. I mean, you get like six of these in here, each one of these, and I do about three layers.

I find that most people might use a bottle, like if they've worked up for a while, they might use an entire bottle.

Three layers. I think that's pretty standard for most people, three layers. If you're doing four, five, or six layers, then it's time to consider moving to the next percentage.

Absolutely.

But you know, you can start with a seven if you have more sensitive skin.

I like the 7%, yes.

I really like the 7%. Thirteen, this standard is for anybody with non-sensitive skin. If you're a little bit more scared, you never did a peel, or you're not quite sure what to think of TCA, do the 7%.

Yeah.

It's so, so tolerable.

Or start with one layer. You know, you don't have to…

One layer. Yeah.

You can certainly do one layer and apply it more frequently. Follow the guidance in your peel manual.

Of course.

The peel manual has everything you need to know.

That's your bible. Read it.

You really need to start from the front cover. Don't just flip through and look for TCA. Don't flip to page 14 to find your TCA.

Yeah.

Everybody needs to read the beginning.

There's some vital information on those first few pages.

That's your prep. That's your warnings. You know, don't use this. Use this. Stop this. Only use it if you're not pregnant. Don't use this if you have an allergy to aspirin.

You know, there are all of those things. You have to read everything. Then, when you're done reading that, you bump into the charts and learn how to use the hydroxy acids. Okay, fine. Then you can move to the TCA page or whatever and discover how to use that.

But never skip. Never skip. There's so much important information.

The first few pages are the most important in our peel manual, absolutely.

Yes.

We get a lot of questions, and they'll say, "I couldn't find it in the peel manual." I keep one right at my desk, and then I reach over and grab it, and I'll say, "Oh, it's on page two."

There you go.

They say, “Oh, I didn't, I just skipped right to the Jessner page or what have you,” you know?

Yep.

Very important.

Yes.

Okay. So, you know, monthly treatments are super important.

Yep.

Daily treatments are super important. Let's talk a little bit about the Micro-Infusion.

Yeah. I was going to say, like it peels.

So we got TCA is great. Vitamin A peel, which also contains Vitamin C, is also really good for collagen and elastin and tightening. That's what we're looking for, you know, tightening things up.

And then of course, you know, that you really can't beat Micro-Infusion, right? Because, I mean, this is, you know, your collagen is what's going to plump things up.

Right.

And also, of course, elasticity is going to come right along, like collagen and elastin kind of go hand in hand.

For sure.

And all of these are going to help to tighten the skin, make everything smoother, and reduce crepiness and other unwanted textures. But doing something like this, once every two weeks, sometimes people might want to do this once every four weeks. It depends on how aggressive we're doing this.

Right.

But, oh yeah. I mean, like needling, microneedling, micro-Infusion, whatever you want to call this.

We like this Micro-Infusion because we are actually infusing the liquid simultaneously. But whatever you're doing, whether you have a needling tool or a stamper one, it's fine, but it's super good.

And I would suggest using specific ingredients. Now, I don't care what tool you're using, right? Like you could be using our tool. You could be using a roller.

Okay.

You could be using an electric pen. Use the right ingredients though.

Right.

Okay, so use things like exosomes. These exosomes, or a mix of both, are relevant when we're talking about anti-aging, skin changes, and tightening.

And I mean, these two are key. This is the PDRN, which is salmon DNA, very similar to human DNA, and the exosomes. So, so anti-aging, it's insane.

So use these with your tool. If you don't have a tool, use our Micro-Infusion tool, but I don't want to limit you. You don't have to always use our tool with it.

If you love your tool, you should use the right serums. And these are made for needling into the skin. So these are safe to use.

They were created to be needled into the skin. They are, they are safe. I'd rather have you use this than, you know, some random serum you found somewhere.

Right. Absolutely. Let's talk about seasonal adjustments. So, you know, in the summer months, some clients are a little bit shy about doing chemical peels and such.

However, we do have clients who peel all year round. We sell all over the world.

Yeah. Some places just don't get cold.

They just don't get fall and winter like we do here in Michigan.

But that may be where the Micro-Infusion comes into play. Of course, the LED mask, this machine, and things like that are…

They’re not dependent on each other. They're not going to make you sensitive to the sun. You're not going to get hyperpigmentation cause you're using them.

They're safe no matter what's going on outside. So, yeah, I absolutely stress. And that was definitely not the only reason, but one of the reasons I was so excited to introduce the Micro-Infusion was because it was summertime.

You get a lot of people who want to spend time. They're at the boat, they're at the beach, they're out at the pool with the kids. They know they're going to get sun.

And so they stopped doing peels, and they may still be using their daily things, but they're not getting what they loved all winter long. And they're like, “Oh, then my skin looks like yuck,” you know, come, come, you know, fall when everybody starts getting back in a peel season. Well, you don't have to stop.

Very true.

Use things that aren't going to cause that kind of sensitivity. There are no issues with the sun. Do your needling.

Now, of course, don't get a suntan two days after, but you know, two-day downtime is a lot different than a 30-day downtime.

Of course.

So something like this, super something like the IPL. I mean, that's two days, you can do the next one in two days. So you're fine to go to Honolulu on vacation after you did that for the same thing after this, and with an LED mask.

You just take that on vacation with you because you could use that if you get too much sun; it's actually very healing.

Yeah.

And it's been known to benefit the skin, even if it has a burn or similar issues.

Right. Let's talk about the best products besides peels and treatments. Let's recap.

The best products for firming and tightening: Fusion.

Yeah. Fusion A, retinoids, copper peptides, huge. Some of the Dr. Platinum potion actives, the SKINectura, the Citrustem, and Progeline, are super good for tightening, lifting jowl areas, and other similar areas.

And the Alqemi serums, you don't have to needle those in.

You don't. So you can take the exosomes and mix them with regenerate cells, or you can combine them.

I love to mix it. Like I said, I say this all the time, like my favorite go-to serum now. I take the AD bottle and pour the PDRN bottle in there, and it's like yay-full.

And then I take my Regenerate, add about 25 pumps, and fill it all the way to the top. You put the little dropper on top and then, Oh, I don't have one in this one.

There's a little dropper that pops on the top, and then you can just take a couple of drops every day. That's my go-to.

Then you just keep that serum refrigerated, correct?

I keep it in my little fridge.

A little cute Beauty Fridge.

I love my Beauty Fridge now. I never thought I needed one until I actually needed one. And now I put, I've loaded my fridge. I've got everything in there. Everything.

That's so cool. And we do sell the Platinum Beauty Fridge. We'll have to bring it up here for a podcast.

We will. Yeah. I don't think. We don't have one up here, but yeah, they're so cute.

They are so cute. And you know…

And small.

Put it right on your bathroom counter or under even...

That’s where mine is. I have mine on my bathroom counter. Still, you could even use it as a nightlight at night because it has different lights.

So you just touch the front and it lights up. You can hit it, I think, two or three times, and it gets brighter.

Yeah.

Yeah. That's beneficial. Like, if you have to go to the bathroom in the middle of the night and you can't see what you're doing, just tap that mirror, and then now you've got a little nightlight in there.

Oh, that’s fun.

But yeah, that's super, and the mirror on the front, so that you could use that for a lot. You know, you put your makeup on in the bathroom, however you do it.

What about the most significant mistakes? What can happen here? You know, maybe stopping too soon.

Yeah. A.) being aggressive and being too aggressive. Starting products to...

Don't start your retinoids and your copper every single night.

Right.

And expect everything to turn out well.

Sure.

You have to ease into those products. It can take a few weeks before you're putting things on every single day. Every other day is probably a sound, reasonable basis.

So don't be too aggressive up front. Don't be too aggressive, even if you're doing a peel. You do one layer, maybe two layers, the first time you do it. Never just put on five layers and hope for the best, right?

For sure.

Being too aggressive isn't the way to go with strong, powerful products, and always make sure that you are consistent.

Give it time. Do not expect immediate results. Immediate results are not possible. Even a facelift isn't an immediate result.

For sure, right?

You could say up to a year before your face is, is where your result is. So nothing is instant.

Is it ever too late for someone to start? Like, let's say there's a customer who, life happens, you know, a lot of times I hear stories, where maybe they're taking care of elderly parents or something's happening, they have a special needs child or something.

Somebody’s been sick, and they don't have time for themselves.

Yeah. Everybody is getting their attention, but they are not getting the self-care that they want.

I've seen that story a lot.

And very quickly, your skin goes downhill. As we discussed earlier, about the…

It's just not your focus.

Yeah. Right.

But I don't think, I don't think it's ever too late.

Okay.

You know what I mean? You can start.

Yeah.

I mean, how many customers do we have that are probably in their eighties? I've never done anything, and I want to start doing peels.

Yeah.

You do?

Yes, 100%.

All right. Well, you can, and you will see improvements.

Yes.

You know, they're not going to take you back to when you were 25.

Absolutely.

But you know, if you were 80 and did anything and then you do your peels and you're using your daily products, you're still going to knock 10, 15 years off. I'm telling you.

Absolutely.

And if you keep that up, I mean, it's like people start aging backwards.

And the best way for them to document that is, of course, with the photographs. Yeah.

I can't say enough.

Yeah.

Before you, even if you're just doing a regimen, take a photo every single month.

Sure.

Just make it a habit, put it in your phone. We're going to have our app soon-ish.

Yes.

It takes time to build an app, but even if it's just a regimen, it doesn't have to be a peel regimen. It's going to remind you to take that photo every single month because it's essential.

It doesn't matter if you're just using a retinol and copper; that's all you've added to your regimen. You're going to document that. And in six months, you're going to look at photo A and photo six and be like, “Wow, what else can I do?” You know, because you're going to see fundamental changes.

I know. I am super confident that if they are diligent and are putting retinol in their regimen, using some of the Crepey Skin Escape products, and all of these things, they're going to see that neck tighten.

They are.

They really are.

90 days, six months.

Yes. Yes.

A year. I mean, those are your three markers.

Yeah.

90 days, six months, and one year. And you're going to see massive changes between each one of those points.

Yes.

I think that's, I'm going to start saying that from now on.

It's true. It's true.

Those are your like markers where your significant changes.

Yeah. And I want to say that about 90 days is probably when people start to notice, too.

Yeah. Something looks better. Like when you glance at yourself in the mirror, and you look better. You're like, “Hmm, I don't know what it is.” Unless you're looking at your photos, you'll notice that this line's a little shorter, this is a little less deep, and this is a little lighter.

But I mean, even just looking in the mirror, you are going to notice a difference. Like, “Wow, something looks better.”

Yeah. You get that little bit of glow.

Definitely a glow.

Absolutely.

Smooth skin.

You look better. You feel better. It's just the way we are.

Yep.
