Why We Discontinued High Octane Vitamin C (And What’s Replacing It)
We are reformulating our high-octane vitamin C.
Into something new.
That particular product has been discontinued.
Right.
Many customers were surprised and, you know…
A little panicked.
A little panicked. Because it is, we often discuss vitamin C and retinoids as key ingredients in anti-aging.
And they are.
…how you prepare your skin for a peel.
Right.
I want to pick your brain. And what can... I mean, it's coming down the pipeline. I'll let you talk about the new product that's coming.
Yeah.
But in that interim, what can they use, you know, as an antioxidant? Or to feel like they're still getting the proper preparation, whether they're undergoing a peel or seeking a replacement?
Right. Therefore, there are two categories here. There is a regimen that we want you to follow for an excellent, well-rounded, and healthy routine. Additionally, we offer a range of peel preparation products.
Got it.
Now, it is easiest for us to get everybody on a good regimen. So, what do we want for a good regimen? We want an acid-based cleanser to exfoliate the dead skin. We want antioxidants to protect and repair damage all day, every day.
Yes.
We recommend using a moisturizer. We recommend using SPF 50.
And at night, we recommend using a retinoid. That is a good, well-rounded regimen. Now, there are obviously many more treatments and options available.
If you have pigmentation, you want to use Fade Bright. If you're working on aging, consider epidermal growth factors or a similar approach. There are a lot of things you can add to that.
That's a nice base regimen. When preparing for a peel, several key factors should be considered. I mean, yes, we want you to use an acid because we want to even out the skin's surface.
We recommend using a retinoid because it helps stimulate the skin to turn over quickly and heal more effectively. And we also, for the most part, want you to use Fade Bright or Hydroquinone, whatever you want to reach for. Obviously, this is recommended for everyone because anybody, at any time, no matter what their skin's coloring is, could get PIH. Post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation.
Are you guaranteed to get it? Nope. Those who have darker skin or are Indian, Asian, Mediterranean, anybody with olive-y skin or darker, they have 50% more likely chance of getting PIH.
So if you are someone that falls into that, even if you are light for your group, like let's say you are Hispanic but you have skin like me, like white skin, you still need to use this because your heritage tends to turn brown. A good way to find that out, too, is if you get a bug bite or a pimple: does it turn brown or does it turn pink?
So, if you have a pink mark after a pimple or a bite, you're less likely to have a less likely chance. But if those marks turn brown, you've got to prep.
That's another sign if you're seeing dark marks or already have hyperpigmentation. You want to prep.
If you're working on pigmentation, you must take all the necessary precautions. You don't want to cause any potential harm.
You absolutely should. Even if it's just for a light peel, yes, it's much less likely to happen.
However, if you're using TCA, Jessner, or Glycolic 50, you really want to prep correctly. So, when prepping for the peel, there are only really three mandatory products: the acid to even out your skin, the retinoid to help heal and turn over your skin more quickly, and then a melanin inhibitor.
So you don't have to have an antioxidant. That is a well-rounded and good regimen. Same thing, I say, moisturizer. Well, sure, you don't have to have that moisturizer to prep for the peel.
Is it a good idea? It's recommended that you moisturize your skin every day. But maybe you don't use a moisturizer. Perhaps you use oil. Maybe you use something different.
That's okay if you don't have it. So that needs to be stressed. It's not that you're not prepping properly because you don't have it. The regimen we recommend is designed to transform your face if you're not already on a proper skincare routine. We see people who are like, 'I'm prepping for my peel, and I've been prepping for four weeks or five weeks, and my skin is so beautiful, I feel like I've done a peel.’
Because you're using the proper kinds of products, you've never had that before. Nobody is telling you precisely what you need to do to have that beautiful skin.
So now, when you do that peel, peels are a bonus. That's just going to make your skin all the better. But yeah, it's okay if you don't have that antioxidant.
There are other antioxidants as well, such as vitamin C, which is excellent. However, we're replacing our vitamin C with something that contains significantly more antioxidants than just vitamin C. It's like a super antioxidant product.
There are six. Well, there are six, and then I think we might have even added another one. I think at the end of the day.
I think he added in another one. But yeah, for sure six, and it's Secret Agent VI. So we came up with that fun name after playing.
We're thinking, ' Who's there to protect you and make sure they're going to take care of any problems you have? ' We're feeling like a secret agent. They're there to protect you.
There were six antioxidants in there, so we ended up developing six different ones. It's just adorable. We're going to have that one coming out fairly soon.
How soon? Everybody wants to know how soon.
I've literally approved the artwork and the label, and all that kind of stuff right now. I'll show you that later.
Super cute. You saw part of it?
I did. I saw it yesterday. I responded to a customer and said we had literally approved the packaging that day, which was a day or two ago.
It's just waiting for the ingredients to be delivered, and as soon as those ingredients arrive, it can be manufactured, and then we'll have it ready for you. We will have it out as soon as humanly possible because it's an important product.
It really is.
In the meantime, there are other antioxidants. There are a lot of antioxidants.
Yeah, C is super, right? It's a super antioxidant. We have another ingredient in there, and our new one is called SuperOxy, which comes from a source I'm going to butcher, but I think it's something like a kakadu plum, I believe. I'm not 100%.
It's more potent than the vitamin C that comes from citrus fruits and things like that, and there's a whole bunch of great stuff in there. However, you can also incorporate other beneficial substances, such as vitamin A, which is an antioxidant, green tea, and resveratrol, which is found in our Fade Bright.
What else? I believe vitamin B.
Our copper peptides.
Oh, yeah, niacinamide.
Niacinamide, copper. There are a lot of antioxidants, so you may already have an antioxidant, so you don't have to panic if you don't have something that's a super high-functioning antioxidant. You still have one.
Yes, and even if they're just using the Fade Bright to prep, it contains some antioxidants.
There are antioxidants and retinoids in there. So let’s say, at the end of the day, you can only pick one darn product or two, preferably because you really need that acid cleanser in there.
If you had to choose between Fade Bright and, say, Fusion A, opt for Fade Bright because it contains retinoids as well. You can use this for both your melanin inhibitor and your retinoid. This is like a standalone to help anybody.
And if we took the peels out of the equation, they could, like you said, use the Fusion. They could use the copper peptides.
Yes, and as I mentioned, there are also resveratrols in here. And I think they might have resveratrol in a couple of different things. I can't remember offhand.
There are a lot of things you could do. And yes, antioxidants are super-duper important. They're super, super-duper important, like mandatory.
Everyone should be using one every day, so I'm excited to introduce this new one because it won't sting, as it no longer contains L-ascorbic acid. The original one contained L-ascorbic acid, which is the acid form, and that's what causes stinging. Our new one does not contain L-ascorbic acid.
Interesting thing, how we're always saying that you can't use an acid after, like, you did a peel. Well, this new one you could because it's not acid anymore. It's the THDA, which is oil-soluble.
We won't have to worry about. You'll be able to apply our secret agent after a peel or after something irritating, because it no longer contains acid. So you'll be able to use that one where you had to avoid vitamin C for a little while.
You don't have to. So I thought about that the other day. I'm like, beautiful.
We don't even have to worry about it because it definitely feels different. And it's just as powerful. It's more potent than it was.
It's still around 20%, but what it is, 20% plus of its highly potent content.
It's a new, improved formula.
So new, improved. And it's still lovely. It's like the other one; people would sometimes complain a little bit. Perhaps they had difficulty working with it because it had a more silicone-like feel.
It was a waterless formula.
It was hard for some people to work with. Some people loved it. Some people hated it. This new one, you know, feels like a creamy serum, similar to Fusion A. It's a creamy serum.
It's that, but it's a little bit slicker. It's a little slicker, so it will still be one of your first products. Anything watery or drippy can be applied first.
That will go on next. That will be highly beneficial. I'll take one more second to explain how antioxidants benefit you, as not everyone is aware of their benefits, right? So, let's think for a minute: what do I have?
Okay, let's pretend this is your cell. You've got a whole bunch of cells in your skin, right? And then the sun hits your skin, and a little piece of this breaks off, as if we've damaged it.
Now it's floating around. Now they're both free radicals because they're not normal.
So, if this cell continues to replicate, it will eventually become something unusual, right? It's going to be a bump, a mark, a growth, a skin tag, or whatever.
It won't be normal. It's no longer a normal cell. And this little one over here is going to be a mess, too. It's either A, going to grab onto another cell and make that one irregular, or it's going to, like, replicate on its own.
It's just going to cause nothing but havoc. And what happens? You know, things like skin cancer can happen along with, you know, bumps and growths.
When you apply an antioxidant to your skin, such as vitamin C, it lends an electron. Let's say one broke off of this, and it's like, oh, help me. You know, this guy will share theirs with yours.
And this doesn't turn into a free radical either. It's just there to share. And so, anything that is damaged helps to fix it. Now, this one can replicate itself perfectly, and you'll have beautiful skin again. It can help to repair the damage. It can help to prevent damage. It is so, so important that people use it.
It's like a little friendly repairman.
It is. It is. Just go and put it on every day, and it's like a silent helper. You don't even know what it's doing.
And if you're using it in your everyday regimen, chances of you having some, you know, misshaped cells are less likely because, you know, your fix-it man's in there every day.
You’re fixing it constantly every single day.
Wow.
And, you know, your retinoids are helping to fix it, too. As I mentioned, there are numerous antioxidants, but you need multiple antioxidants to be effective. So, that could be interesting for someone who knows exactly how it works and why they're so important.
Right. Because you hear that word all the time, but it's like…
But what's a free radical?
Right. It's a lot.
It's a little thing floating around that broke off of a thing or, you know, caused damage and deteriorated this one or whatever, and it's fixing it.
And it's our natural, you know, the sunlight, the ozone, the smoking. Everything…
Everything that damages.
That causes that. It's not as if you are personally causing this damage. It's just life.
It's just life. I mean, it happens every day. I think your body creates them all the time.
Yeah.
So, you need always to be either eating things or putting things on your skin that help repair. Repair is important.
Good. I think this is going to help people kind of bridge that gap between high-octane vitamin C and... Remind me again. Super…
Secret Agent VI.
Secret Agent VI.
Secret Agent VI. It's so cute.
Does it need to be waterless to last a long time?
Doesn’t need to be.
Yeah.
No. No. It's…
This one will be a lot easier to apply.
It's not waterless. There is water in this one, but it's…
Will it last the same?
It will. This one has, for sure, a two-year shelf life. We have cooked it and done lots of things to it, and it is perfect.
That's amazing.
There is nothing to worry about. Like, we're... L-ascorbic acid will definitely be damaged if water is present, but THDA is the oil-soluble form of vitamin C. And AAP is also included, and we had both of those in our previous one as well. AAP, Aminopropyl Ascorbyl Phosphate, I believe that's how you pronounce that one.
That's very powerful. That's in there in minute amounts, like 1% or something, because it's so powerful.
And then the new SuperOxy, which is by Lucas Meyer. We have a couple of their actives in our line now. That is supposed to be even more powerful. That's the one that comes from that plum.
There are many other things as well. There's Resveratrol and Green Tea, and I want to mention ubiquinone, also known as CoQ10.
Awesome.
There are many things in there. I can't even remember them all right now. But, yes.
Action-packed.
It's going to be an excellent product. It feels great. It will last for years without a question. Like, nothing to worry about. It's going to be such an excellent product for everybody.
And clients can apply this on their own. So, you remember how, like, the high-octane, mix a very small amount with your Hyaluronic or your Regenerate to kind of, like, you know, since it was waterless. If they were using it alone, they would use too much. And then sometimes they would get that, you know, effect where it was kind of rolling off and things. We should not have any issues like that at all. A client can simply apply it like a regular morning serum.
And it doesn't matter how sensitive it is. It doesn't matter. Like before, that could sting. It's not going to sting. It doesn't sting at all. It doesn't sting at all. It's good for anything.
I've gotten it in a cut. All fine.
Oh, goodness.
Nothing.
Yeah.
Nothing.
Because that would sting.
We're good. Yeah, yeah.
Excellent.
I'm excited. It'll be out soon. As soon as humanly possible. Because I know everybody's going to love it. And I use it every day.
I love it. I even use it at night sometimes. It's like, people are like, ' Do you really need to use it at night? ' No, I don't know.
However, sometimes I just grab it because I want to use it. Yes, but once a day is best, for sure, in the morning, as it's always best for your antioxidants.
Well, that's good. I believe this will benefit customers, and we will certainly notify them as soon as it becomes available.
We'll do a big email.
Yes. We will let them know. And it will be blasted out to them. And I'm sure we'll be sitting here again very shortly. We'll also be discussing our other new products in more detail.
Our other new one is coming up. Remind me again.
DNA repair enzymes.
Yes, there we go. I'm like, we have so many things in the works here. And you are just a research junkie. You're always in there. You know, on the phone, on calls, on a podcast, like doing this, doing that, on Zoom. You're just going to dive in. And I'm telling you.
If I can find something amazing, I will offer it.
If it's out there, you will find it.
I try. And sometimes I think, oh, I'll never find anything else as good as this. And you never know.
I love it when I walk into your office and you're just…
' Guess what? '
You're like, ' Come here, I've got to show you this. ' And you're just like so excited. And then we're just like doing the happy dance in there.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
If anyone could see us, they would sometimes burst out laughing.
Yep, yep.
All right, well, perfect. We will let you know when it comes out soon.
Yes.
All right. Stay tuned.
Please call us if you've a question.
Absolutely. We'll be here.
Yep.
