Wrinkle Reduction 101: The Secret to Softer, Younger-Looking Skin
We all get wrinkles. That's part of life. If you're moving your face, you're going to get wrinkles. Those are dynamic wrinkles. When your collagen is damaged, being in the sun too long, there are just a whole bunch of things that can damage your collagen. This is something that if you're using this every single night or work up to using it every single night, your skin's in be turning over quickly. You're going to be ready to do a peel, and you're going to heal fast.
Hey everyone, we are going to talk about everything today, about wrinkles, what you should use, how you should use them, which products work, and what's going to be the most effective to help you lessen your wrinkles. I'm Dora. I'm your host, and as always, we are here today with Jennifer, the CEO of Platinum Skincare, and we're going to get this started today with a few simple questions. Perfect. Let's start. Okay. Ken Rink really be reduced, or is this just a fantasy that we all have?
They can definitely be reduced. I don't want to say they can be eradicated, but we can definitely minimize them, smooth things out, improve the texture of your skin and the glow, and you're going to look younger if you tackle this correctly.
Now I know there are different types of wrinkles, so let's talk about those.
Yeah, I mean, we all get wrinkles. That's part of life. If you're moving your face, you're going to get wrinkles. Those are dynamic wrinkles. You're also going to get wrinkles when your collagen is damaged. So smoking, being in the sun too long, there's just a whole bunch of things that can damage your collagen and make those wrinkles much more severe than they could be for someone else.
Can they really be stopped? Can you slow down this aging process?
You can definitely slow it down. We have lots of collagen in our skin when we're babies. It tells you what, you're in your twenties and your thirties. It starts to slow down a little bit each year, but when we reach our forties and up, that's when the brakes are on. You're really going to start aging quickly. That’s when we really need to start focusing on products and treatments that are going to stimulate new collagen and elastin in the skin so that we can have a nice, smooth, young-looking texture.
Perfect. What kind of transformation can someone expect if they're trying to reduce wrinkles?
Well, the easiest way to see your transformation is you need to take a picture. You need to know where you're starting.
Yes.
The number one thing, when you're ready to address any sort of transformation for your skin, you need to take a picture. You need to know where you're starting from. If you don't take that picture, you can't gauge your progress. You think you're going to remember what you look like day by day, but you don't. So that's super important. You should take a photo every month, and then you really need to be number one, consistent. Don't think that it's a one-time event, and all of a sudden, my wrinkles are going to go away after one big treatment. This is going to take time. It’s going to be a minimum of 90 days before you really start to see those changes. When you're looking picture by picture, it's going to be at least 90 days before those first little things. You're like, oh, that line does look a little bit better, but then you need to go like six months, nine months, a year. When we see the pictures that come in, it's not, oh, one month I look like this. One month, I look like this. These people are going back even like a year ago, two years, and they're like, I can't even believe how terrible my skin was, and now it's just amazing. It's just a matter of time. Using the right products, using high enough percentages of those ingredients to get benefits, doing your peels, doing just anything you can to even that skin tone and stimulate collagen.
And what are your tips for someone to achieve such a transformation?
Well, the first thing is you need to use products that have enough of those active ingredients to make a difference. You need to use products like acids. You need to use your retinoids, you need to use antioxidants. You need to use SPF. That's just so, so important, and you need to use them all the time. You need to follow the recommendations that are given to you. It's not just use this once, it's use this once per day for the next 365 days. That's when you're going to really see the changes.
So, consistency is key when working on anti-aging and banishing wrinkles. Yes,
100%. 1000% excellent.
Where do chemical peels fit into anti-aging?
They’re a way to really pump up what you're already doing. You already want to be on a good regimen that's pairing your skin for peels or anything, any other kind of treatments. You're laying that foundational surface. Just like if you're going to paint a wall, you need to fill in all the cracks, and you need to build it up and make that nice and smooth. So when you do that next treatment, you're going to get just the best results ever. So if you're following a wonderful regimen and you're using all the key ingredients you need, your skin's already glowing and looking great, and when you throw a peel into there, I mean you're just taking it to the next level. You are stimulating huge amounts of collagen and elastin and glycosaminoglycans, and we are getting rid of layers of dead skin at a time for that beautiful glow and minimizing lines and pores and pigmentation and just whatever you're dealing with. So it's going to really help those products penetrate nicely into the skin as well. From doing the chemical peels,
That's another key. That's where the acids come in and the retinoids come in. They're going to remove those layers of dead skin. So when you apply your products, they're going to penetrate well. When you apply your acids, they're going to penetrate well, and you're going to get better results.
Well, if it's so simple, then why does it feel like it's such a battle for this anti-aging for people to this battle against aging? It's going to happen no matter what. What do you think are the major pitfalls that a client can do or not do that's going to help them move along or prevent them from getting the results they're looking for?
The next greatest and best thing too easily sways people. They think that they're expecting too much too soon with their product. They could have the perfect product, but they use it for a couple of weeks, and they're not seeing those changes, and then they're off looking at the next thing, oh, well, this one didn't work. They're just not being consistent.
You have to stay with that product. You have to understand what that ingredient can do for you. You just have to be confident in the product you have, that it has the percentages that you need. If you use it consistently, you're going to get results and just stay with it. Be faithful to a brand or at least a product.
Right. How long do you feel a customer should use a specific product to see optimal results?
Bare minimum, 90 days, bare minimum, 90 days. Even with something as aggressive as a peel, you are not going to see the benefits of that peel for a few months from now, when all the new tissue growth and everything work their way up to the surface of your skin. You cannot expect a daily topical to give you results just like that. 90 days is a minimum.
It takes a long time for these wrinkles to form, so it's going to take some time to repair them. Right, exactly. So we’ve got to be consistent.
When a customer is starting their peel journey, what are some common mistakes that they can make to set them back a little? What are your recommendations for them getting started?
Yeah, number one, you need to be educated. It's not a matter of picking up this bottle and putting it on your face and moving forward. You have to understand how this acid's going to work or how this product's going to work. You need to know what to expect. So if something turns out funny, you're there to, oh, this is normal. This is normal. It's the way it's supposed to be. They're not reading their directions properly. Read that peel manual. Watch the video on it. You need to understand what you're putting on your face. You need to prime your skin correctly with a good regimen like we're talking about. They also need to test their skin. Some people might have an allergy or a reaction to something you always want to test it before you put it all over your face. You don't want to end up with a problem. Very true. And there are so many different types of acids, and everyone's skin reacts differently to each kind of acid. So, patch testing is very important, very important.
Anybody could have an allergy, and it's not just about putting it on and waiting five minutes. It's like you put it on, you might wait five minutes and rinse it off, but then you’ve got to check it in 24 hours. It's not an instant. You could have a rash 24 hours later, and you need to know that. Another key thing that you need to be wary of is to follow the manufacturer's instructions, directions, and recommendations. Don't follow somebody that you see online who doesn't manufacture that product or isn't an actual employee of that manufacturer's company. A lot of people do things that may be too far, too aggressive, or maybe it's okay for them. It's not OK for you. You need to start where the manufacturer tells you to start. Let's discuss. What are the core ingredients for?
Yeah. Well, we want to have a regimen that consists of acids to exfoliate your skin. That can be a cleanser, a toner, or a serum. You want antioxidants to help protect your skin from the damages that come from the sun every single day. You want retinoids at night. Retinoids stimulate your skin to turn over more quickly, to heal faster, and you want SPF. You have to always be protecting your skin. SPF 50 for most people, and reapply it. And don't just rely on your SPF. Make sure you have a hat. Try to shade your face. If you're doing peels and things like that, you want to take care of your skin and look as young as you possibly can. You need to protect your skin.
Now speaking of our brand, Platinum Skincare, what are the specific products from our brand that fit into those key ingredients?
Yeah. Well, we have a variety of cleansers and toners. We have serum 15 and 20, so we have a few different cleansers. They're all based on your skin type so you would choose our revitalizing cleanser for normal skin, or you would choose our anti-aging cleanser if you have dry skin. AB cleanser is for you have oily or acne. And then we also have our basic three-in-one mandelic, which is suitable for any skin type. Somebody who wants to use some scrubby beads and get some of that. We also have our serums, our serum 15 or serum 30, that you can work up to. Either of these is a good way to use an acid in your regimen every day, so we can thin the dead layers of skin and have that gently exfoliating without being aggressive. Other than that, we can use antioxidants like vitamin C is just the tried and true, but there are many others. Green tea and copper are also antioxidants. So something like that. Our fusion A, this is our retinoid that has three different retinoids in here. It has retinol to hide and active retinoid action packed.
This is something that if you're using this every single night or work up to using it every single night, your skin's going to be turning over quickly. You're going to be ready to do a peel, and you're going to heal fast from a peel. And then obviously, SPF, we love the coats brand here. This flawless SPF 50 is really good for most people. We also have the face, which is mattifying if you have oily skin. So that's the base. That is the base. Once we're using all of these and everything else, you're just adding a bonus.
It can be confusing when you start adding more products and more products. Is there a tip for layering these products that makes things easy?
There is. I always like to say thin to thick. So we want to start with our serums and then move up to creams, and then we always end with oils to seal everything in. Right. There's a little trick, the serums, and the only thing that makes this even the least bit confusing is if you have an acid serum, let's say, or something that's alcohol based, you want to put that on first. It's going to penetrate, it's going to dissipate, and it's gone. So then you put your water-based serums on, hyaluronic and epidermal growth factors, and all your potions and stuff. Then any of your daily creams, and then your oils, and then your SPF, and you're good.
Excellent. Okay. Now that we've covered some basics, let's talk about bonus products. So, some really action-packed ingredients or products from platinum can really bump up the anti-aging
Results. Yeah, well, now there are a couple of things we can focus on. Alright, so when we're talking about treatments and bonuses and stuff like that, Fade Bright is one of the first ones that comes to mind because if you have pigmentation or darker skin, you want to get your skin prepared to do a peel, you can use something like this. Then we have other high potency products like in our Dr. Platinum potion line, where we have actives, but instead of being a portion of a percent, they're like 35%, 50%, 75%. These are things that you can use full strength, super high potency, actives, or you can add them into your favorite creams or serums that we were talking about. Another one would be like the copper products. Copper is so good for aging skin; it’s good for scars. Anything that's not quite right, bumps, and anything that's not right on your skin. This is something that's a remodeling serum that can be very, very helpful. If your skin is dry, a really good one to add in is like the hyaluronic acid, something like this. Just add a little pump to your regular regimen, and this will just give you more moisture. Or the last one I can think of that is one of my favorite amazing ones is epidermal growth factor. So this is something that you want to put on every single day. If you're using retinoids, if you're doing peels, it helps to regenerate your epidermis literally. So helpful. So anti-aging, things like that. Those are great.
So, when someone is shopping on our website, what tools do we have on the website to help the customer navigate through what's best for them?
The easiest way to get started is to get your regimen going. And if you're not sure what cleanser and toner and all this kind of stuff that you want to add in, you want to go and click the Regimen Builder tool that we have on our main page, and you'll select that, answer your questions, and it will help tell you exactly what products you need to start your core regimen. Nice. And if you're already prepared, your skin's prepared and healthier using those key ingredients we talked about, then you can do the peel finder tool. And that will help to tell you if you need a specific prep product or if you want to peel a lot, if you want to peel a little, if your skin is sensitive, you answer those questions, and it will tell you exactly what acid peel is best for you. So those are two great ones to start with. And the next one is our Peel University. That's where you're going to go and spend a little time, because you are going to learn all about your skin and the color of your skin. You're going to be able to type your skin, and you're going to see every video we have on the different singular peel applications and combining them, and advanced methods, and all these kinds of excellent treatments. So that's a super place to go.
Excellent. Now, if they do all of those things, they still have some questions: what would they do?
Well, there are a couple of options. You can call us at +1 800-917-3155. We're here Monday through Friday from nine to four 30 on Easter. You can email us at support@platinumskincare.com, and we also have our excellent Facebook group, which is called Platinum Skincare Gurus. You can join that, and you can ask questions right there on the page. You can search through people's answers and photos, and before and after problems, questions. It's all there. You're going to learn from all the tens of thousands of people that we have in that group, and you will have actual admin. I'm on there. I answer every single question. We're there to help you. It's all there. That's another great place.
And a lot of the key points are pinned at the top of the page.
Oh, yes, yes. Steps to take. That's nice. Questions. Oh, when can I do my next peel? When can I do this? Can I do that? Can I switch all the crazy, in-depth stuff that people always come up with a question about? We already have the answer for you.
Yeah, sounds good. Sounds good. Okay. Let’s recap and go over some of the main ingredients, the main products that you feel like, if you are looking for an anti-aging regimen, and you are on a budget, and you only want to choose five products.
Right now, if you just want to get the bare minimum, I'm going to say a cleanser because you have to wash your face twice a day. This is gentle enough for just about anybody. Start here, then. It is super important to put an antioxidant on. So I'm going to say a little tiny dab of vitamin C, and I would like you to mix that with a moisturizer. Yes. So, GABA for normal skin or dermis, snap if you have drier skin. And then at nighttime, we want you to use Fusion A. We start with the first one, point 15, and start two, three nights a week. Just add on, let your skin acclimate. You could be dry. And if you don't already have an SPF, of course, grab an SPF. I love the flawless SPF 50. That's a super one.
Excellent. What would you tell someone who is just getting started and really needs a little pep talk, and is getting started on their journey?
You can absolutely do this. This is not hard. It's about being consistent. Get a handful of products to get yourself started. Start using those every day. Take a photo,
Very, very, very.
And in a month, just your consistent use of the core regimen. Compare those two photos, and you will already see changes, and that's going to get you excited, and just keep doing that. And when you’re ready for appeal at any time, that's really going to push you to the next level. And before you know it, you're just going to be beaming with excitement. You're going to love your skin, and we're going to be there to help you all along the way. If you have questions, anything, you're not alone.
Well, thank you so much for answering all of the questions today on antiaging, and we look forward to helping every one of our customers become beautiful.
Absolutely. You have to love your skin.
Absolutely.
